From Your Pastors
Dear Zion family –
This weekend, we get to welcome fourteen new households to our family of faith! Make sure to join us for our new member welcome, following the 8 am worship service in the lobby. You’ll get to meet our newest members and enjoy some great refreshments and fellowship.
In worship, we continue our series called “That’s a Great Question” where, during the season of Lent, we’re considering some of the questions Jesus asks in the Gospels. This weekend, we’ll look at a question in Matthew 9:27-31:
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When He had gone indoors, the blind men came to Him, and He asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.
Before Jesus miraculously heals two blind men, He asks them a difficult but critical question: “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” Do you ever struggle with doubts about what Jesus can do? Then this weekend is for you! Learn how to trust Jesus even when doing so is difficult this Sunday in worship. We worship at 8 am in our beautiful historic sanctuary, at 10:45 am in our wonderful worship center, or online at zionwalburg.org. And don’t forget, during the season of Lent, we also have short, 30-minute devotional services on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in our sanctuary. We’ll see you in worship.
Your pastors love you!
– Pastor Zach, Pastor Kevin & Pastor Kyle
Global Leadership Summit
Are you a local leader who wants to sharpen your leadership skills? Zion is considering being a video host site for the Global Leadership Summit, which is a Christian-based leadership event now in its 29th year, on August 8 and 9. Speakers include Pastor Craig Groeschel, Joni Eareckson Tada, and Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Early bird tickets are $179 per person. You can learn more about the Summit by clicking here. To help us gauge interest and decide whether we will be a video host site for the Summit, please email Heather Ullmann at church@zionwalburg.org and let us know if you’d purchase a ticket to attend if we video-hosted the Summit at Zion!

A Message From the Principal
Teacher of the Year Nomination
Please join us in congratulating middle school teacher, Director of Curriculum, and Assistant Principal Suzan Winkelman, recently nominated for the Honor of Teacher of the Year, through the Herzog Foundation. Thank you, Mrs. Winkelman, for always blessing every child, our families, and your colleagues at Zion Lutheran Church and School!
Apartment Needed
A school family needs an apartment to rent/lease. The price range needs to be less than $1500 a month and located in the Georgetown/Jarrell area. Contact the school office if you can help.
Baptism Chapel
On the 3rd of April, our pastors will lead a chapel where we invite students to be baptized. This usually happens when your child lets your teacher or the principal know of his/her interest, or just brings it up in discussion with you as parents. Then a discussion is brought to our pastoral team, and we make it happen! Please contact your child’s teacher, Mr. Wrege (thomas.wrege@zionwalburg.org) if you have an interest. On a side note, we can baptize at any time, not just on the 3rd of April. We can do it in chapel, in a weekend worship service, in your home, with your child’s class, etc.
8th Grade Chat
Pastor McIntosh (Senior Pastor), Mrs. Gaylor (8th grade teacher), and Mr. Wrege (Principal) spent time with our graduating class speaking to them about preparing for high school. It was a faith-based conversation, including sharing how they will run into many challenges. These Zion staff members were able to encourage the defending of faith, how know when they need to report unhealthy activities, and how to stary strong and honor God in all things.
PSIA
What a day the academic competition was this past week! Zion had a record number of state qualifiers, so now their continued studying begins, with the state competition taking place in Houston. Go Blazers!
No School on 08 April
The Board of Christian Education has changed the current calendar to reflect no school on the 8th of April. This is the solar eclipse day, when this area is expecting a deluge of national and international visitors. Due to this influx, see the Situational Awareness Brief that is in the button below. Be sure to read the “K-12 Impact” section. Also, we have solar eclipse viewing glasses we will send home for every student before this date, thanks to one of our school families.
ALTAR GUILD CLEANING THE SACRISTY
Altar Guild is asking if folks may have anything in the Sacristy that they may want to take home or keep. Prior to March 11th, we ask that you please remove what you want to keep and take with you. Once there gone, they are gone.
Also, if you have a few large boxes that you can donate for the Altar Guild to use for glass items, we greatly appreciate it.
Thank you from the Altar Guild Team.
