What is Copyright?
Copyright is a collection of rights granted to the author of a piece of work. Some of those rights include the right to sell it, alter it, lease it, lend it, etc. Something is copyrighted as soon as the intellectual work is in tangible form.
Types of Licenses
Public Domain
Not covered by copyrighted because the copyright has run out, donated, or made with public money, Ex; Classic literature, Classical music
Freeware
A copyrighted work that you can copy and give away for free, Ex; Itunes, Windows Media player and Safari
Shareware
A copyrighted work that you can download and use for free but only for a limited time, or pay for full version, Ex: Lite games
All Rights Reserved
Only allows the purchaser to use it.
Open Source
Software that includes the source code with the idea that someone will improve it, Ex: Firefox, Chrome, Linux,
