Weekly Update
Friday, March 22nd
From the Principal
What a week it’s been! After those two snow days last week we had a lot to pack into this week! The good news is next week is Spring Break so you can rest up and recharge. It’s hard to believe when we return from break there are less than two months left of school!
Dates for the week:
Spring Break is next week! Woo-hoo!
Inclusivity at Little Raven
Here are some great books that help teach inclusivity and cultural awareness! Thank you to one of our parents for sharing these resources.
Eyes that Kiss in the Corners and Eyes that Speak to the Stars
From the Counselor
Thank you to the PTO for the generous donation of fruit for our Wellness Week. Our students enjoyed a fresh and colorful treat while learning about healthy eating choices.
Have a wonderful spring break!
From the Library
As we wrap up with conferences this week, many of you may have received an "overdue" notice from our library if your child(ren) has lost or damaged library books. If you need to pay for a lost/damaged library book you may send cash or a check made out to Little Raven Library, to school with your child and PLEASE have them bring it to me. IF you are in need of paying with a credit/debit card it's a bit more convoluted, but we can make it work. Please contact me by email if this is the case.
I am excited to announce we will be having another Scholastic Book Fair in May. Scholastic is giving us a BOGO FREE Book Fair as a reward for having such an amazing fair in December! Start saving up as this is a great way to stock up on books for summer reading! More details coming soon.
Thank you,
~Mrs. B
What's happening in STEAM
Happy March! Grades K-2 are visiting the SmartLab this month. We will be working on activities that focus on the following topics:
Computer Programming: practice the basics of block coding to solve various mazes.
Creativity Challenges: think differently and solve problems using creativity.
Engineering: design and build a solution for a city problem.
Second graders will also participate in a Bridge Challenge where they explore different types of bridges, choose materials, design two with varying design requirements, build, improve, and share.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Sarah Bernauer
