Vice Principal’s Message
Welcome to December!
With the holiday season just around the corner, I hope you all get the opportunity for some restful relaxation and joyful festivities with family and friends.
It is a busy time of year around our school these days, with students practicing for our upcoming Christmas and band concerts, collecting food items for our food drive, and all of the wonderful learning opportunities our students are receiving.
There will be lots of opportunities for staff and students to get into the holiday spirit this month, with festive dress up days, spreading love and joy through handmade Christmas cards, and Christmas music in the air!
If your child has not yet told you, WRCS has received vending machines. While we are opting for the healthiest options available, some options are healthier than others. If your child chooses to bring money from home to purchase items from the vending machine, please remind your child to purchase items only at their designated times.
With volleyball season coming to a close, and grade 5/6 tripleball ending with this weekend’s jamboree, basketball season is upon us, with junior high tryouts this week. I encourage any junior high student who wishes to participate to try out. Go Wildcats!!
I truly believe we have the most wonderful students, families, and staff at our school, and I am grateful to be a part of the Whispering Ridge school community.
From my family to yours, have a wonderful holiday season!
Maryanne Buck, Assistant Principal

Respiratory Illness Outbreak Update
Please know that the respiratory illness outbreak at Whispering Ridge Community School has ended as of December 1, 2022.
Whispering Ridge Community School Fees
Please try to have your school fees paid as soon as possible, as they are now considered past due.
In order to ensure we can continue to offer enriching learning experiences and optimal programming for our students, we are instating a small school fee for students in grades 1-8. The school administration team worked with our School Council group to weigh the pros and cons, and to ensure that this decision was supported moving forward. So with the support of our School Council, starting in the 2022-2023 school year, we will kindly ask that each family pay a small fee of $30 per student.
What will this money be used for?
Purchasing additional resources/supplies to enhance learning
Supporting enrichment projects and activities
Additional off-site learning opportunities
Helping with the rising costs of operation and basic supplies
How do I pay this fee?
Our school office accepts cash, cheque, and debit
What if I can’t afford this?
Please reach out to Mrs. Stilwell directly and we can work something out
DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Our school parking lot can be incredibly busy. Please be very careful when driving through, and ensure that you're always letting your children out of the vehicle along the sidewalk. We are working with our School Council as well as the school division to mitigate the congestion, but the fact is we simply have a very large population and the parking lot and drop-off lane gets full fast.
Given our high population of students, parents are asked to please wait outside the building at the beginning and end of each school day. Our hallways are very crowded with students (and staff), and this helps us to mitigate congestion while also ensuring we know who is in our building at any given time during the day. It is a great idea to plan a meeting point with your child where they know to look for you.
Indigenous Education at WRCS - Metis Week
WRCS celebrated Métis Week and Rock Your Moc's with a visit from Elder Angie and her daughter Brenda, who beautifully sang the Métis anthem for students and staff. Grade 8 student Avyn Riewe and Grade 3 student Danica Bidwell shared what it means to them to be Métis, while Elder Angie shared her own personal experiences. Students and staff were all inspired by Elder Angie's strength and unique stories and felt truly star struck. A big thank you to Elder Angie and Brenda for visiting the school and for exuding love and care to everyone.
