The VoiCE
March 2017
A Note from Principal Miller
Dear CE Families,
Last month the groundhog saw his shadow and that meant six more weeks of winter. Well, winter came in like a lion. Let's hope it goes out like a lamb. We don't need anymore snow days. This month, we have two Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for March 14th and 23rd. On both days, we will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. Teachers will be backpacking conference dates and times. Please contact the main office if you need to reschedule your assigned time or if you have a dismissal change on these dates. Prior to attending the conference, prepare some questions ahead of time. Such as: Is my child performing at grade level or made growth since the last semester? How is my child doing socially? How can I support my child at home during the upcoming semester? For those parents of 3rd and 4th grade students, you may want a little more insight into the NYS Assessments that will be administered at the end of the month: ELA: March 28th-30th and Math: May 2nd-4th. The internet will give you lots of opinions about the pros and cons of state testing; however, hearing the perspective about testing from your child's teacher is your best resource. As always, I am available to discuss your concerns and help in any way I can.
With the winter weather dragging on into March, we could all use a little motivation to keep going. Whether it’s our work projects or personal endeavors, sometimes that little extra push of encouragement is all you need. So in the spirit of our school theme, Try Everything, I share with you this quote to "march on" through the rest of this month. “What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?”~ Vincent van Gogh
You can do it!
Mrs. Miller
