Principal's Note
Lamar Families,
Welcome back to the 2nd semester of what is turning out to be the most unusual school year!
The school board voted at their January meeting to continue Fully Virtual until February 8. They will meet the first week of February to re-evaluate the situation. The fully virtual plan in the box below will stay in place during this time.
With this continued virtual environment, we have implemented new district expectations for students in grades PK-8. These expectations are linked through the button below. Hardship cases in relation to these expectations can be arranged with your child's homeroom teacher and then approved by me. Since the implementation of the expectations, we have see monumental increase in students participation in their lessons and our absentee rate has dropped dramatically. Thank you for you help!
Also, as many families have seen in communications from your child's homeroom teacher, there will be virtual STAR testing starting next week (January 19). This assessment will give the school fresh data to help better meet the individual learning needs of your child.
Finally, just a reminder that Semester 1 report cards come out this Friday, January 15. Please discuss your child's progress with them and reach out to teachers if you have questions. Report cards will be available through PowerSchool's Parent Portal (see button below). If you need access to this program or need a hard copy, please contact the office at 423-753-1130.
Respectfully,
Mark Merriman, Principal
