A multimedia project exploring Williston’s past and present.
Williston Central School’s Mosaic House 4th graders conducted a yearlong multimedia project focused on Williston’s history. These young historians worked on two major projects: 1) a photographic study comparing Williston’s past and present; and 2) a documentary featuring oral histories of people with deep Williston ties. Both projects offered the students a glimpse into Williston’s past, and an opportunity to reflect on the changes they portrayed.
Throughout the year, students learned about the importance of the past and how it influences their lives today. They also fostered a connection with community members from different generations. Though there certainly have been changes, students learned that their history is a shared one.
CVSD Food Service: Listening Session May 22
CVSD invites teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members on Wednesday, May 22 to join a conversation around the district's school nutrition program. Maturation Film
During the month of May, the 4th grade students will study an important lesson on the early stages of puberty, which many 4th graders are beginning to experience.
The Always Changing Program helps boys and girls:
- Understand the physical and emotional changes they experience during puberty, and
- Learn the physiology of their bodies and correct terminology for parts of the
- reproductive system.
- Understand that personal hygiene is each individual’s responsibility.
In addition, the program helps girls:
- Understand the menstrual cycle.
- Understand what to expect during a period.
- Learn how to manage periods while continuing with normal activities.
**If you do not wish to have your child participate in this lesson and/or view the maturation video, please inform your child’s teacher or school nurse.
The video can be screened by parents by clicking on the link provided:
