Teacher Input Process
It's crazy to think, but it's getting to be that time of year when we start planning for next school year.
Next week our “teacher input” process will begin for the 2024-25 school year.
The process of creating class lists for each school year requires a lot of time and consideration. For example, if your child is in second grade, your child’s teacher meets with all the other 2nd grade teachers and special education staff. Together, many hours are spent crafting the classroom lists for the next school year. Our teachers do a wonderful job of placing students in classes and it's a time-consuming and demanding task.
So where does parent input fit in? This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to give input on this process. Parents may indicate their preferences with the understanding that the school will do its best to accommodate one of their preferences. While your input is important, balanced classrooms are a priority
- When teachers are given the opportunity to build classrooms based on professional judgment, it gives the greatest opportunity for all students to be successful.
- Teachers consider each child’s learning style, academic achievement, special behavioral and learning needs, gender, as well as the combination of student energy levels and personalities.
- As a team, our job is to balance all these factors so that classrooms have a rich diversity of talents, skills and needs.
- Please be aware that the list of teachers in grade levels is subject to change before school begins next fall.
- In the event a teacher assignment is changed after the class lists are created, your child will remain in the assigned classroom grouping. Parents may not submit another request, and you will be notified of this change at our August open house.
The Teacher Input 24/25 form will be emailed to all families next Monday, April 8th and will be due by Friday, April 19th. Due to the extensive time needed by teachers to carefully create classroom lists, late or incomplete requests will not be honored. Please know the teacher input process is optional.
Have a great weekend! Go Hawks!
