March 2022
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Students in grades 3 through 8 will be taking state tests in English/Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics between April 4 and April 22. This is the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). Information about this year’s test has been posted at: https://district.d303.org/departments/assessment
For sample questions please go to: https://il.digitalitemlibrary.com/home
Additionally, students in grades 5, 8, and 11 are taking the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) between March 14 through the 25th. The Illinois Science Standards are based on the NGSS standards, and the ISA is designed to measure against those standards. For more information on the Illinois’s vision of K12 Science go to: https://www.isbe.net/Pages/Science.aspx
The specific testing days will be shared with you by your school.
Please encourage your child to give his or her best effort and, as always, preparing your child for a good day at school begins with a good night of sleep and a nutritional breakfast.
These state tests are one of several ways student achievement is measured in D303. Your child’s daily school work, teacher feedback, and report cards are also important when determining overall school achievement. If you have any questions regarding your child’s performance, be sure to talk with your child’s teacher or principal.
You will also receive information about your child’s individual performance on these tests in the fall. School and district results will be reported on the Illinois School Report Card.
Sincerely,
David Chiszar
Executive Director of Assessment and Accountability
Community Unit School District 303

Atentamente,
David Chiszar
Director Ejecutivo de Evaluación y Responsabilidad
Breakfast for Students
When we return from Spring Break, breakfast will be served to students in the morning when they arrive at school. We will no longer be sending a breakfast home with students at the end of the day for the following morning. Breakfast will still be free to all students for the remainder of this school year. Students do not need to order breakfast ahead of time. We encourage students to arrive at school by 7:45 am if they will be eating breakfast on that day. Students will pick up breakfast in the cafeteria and take to the classroom to eat. Based on student arrival time in the classroom, they may be asked to eat their breakfast during the morning snack break. The last day we will send breakfast home at the end of the day is Thursday, March 24.
Lost and Found
Throughout the winter months we have accumulated quite the collection of coats, water bottles, sweatshirts, etc. Next Monday-Wednesday we will have all lost and found items out on tables for parents to view. Please see the pictures embedded in the eNews to see the variety of items we have collected. If you feel your student has lost and found items at school and can not make it into school next Monday-Wednesday, please call the school at 331-228-2600 and identify a time to stop in.
Enjoy your weekend!!
Jarrod Buxton, Principal
