Tekamah Herman Foundation Scholarships
The Tekamah-Herman Foundation Scholarships are due by the end of the day April 15th. All Applications are completed online and students know how to access them. A Letter will be sent home around March 15th to parents of students that have not turned in one Application at all.
How do Tekamah Herman Foundation Scholarships work?
Students that are awarded a Tekamah-Herman Foundation scholarship will be notified at Graduation ceremonies. They will be given the information in a packet at graduation. In that information will be the name and address of the person giving the scholarship - THEY NEED TO SEND THEM A THANK YOU!!
In January every year, scholarship checks are sent to the school. A student must upload their current transcript (which should include the classes they are enrolled in 2nd semester) to the foundation website. We will notify them as soon as we have confirmed their transcript and enrollment for second semester. A parent, sibling or the student themselves can pick up the scholarship checks. We usually give a deadline and any checks still in the office will be sent to the college.
What should my senior do this month to prepare for the next step?
March Timeline
1. Explore Job Opportunities available for you if you are not planning on going to college.
2. Finalize College plans - is your housing application turned in? Health form turned in?
3. Sign up for Orientation. This is where you pick your classes for freshman year.
4. Contain your Senioritis - Colleges will look over your final high school transcript and if they feel you did not meet their expectations for your last semester of high school they may rescind your admission status.
5. SCHOLARSHIPS! Deadline for Foundation scholarships is 4/15!

Senior Shout-Outs
This year we will continue our Senior Shout-Outs. The PlainDealer also does a Senior Salute Page. In an effort to streamline the information that seniors have to submit to various people, we put a google doc together that would collect all the information from students in one place. This is information is due April 1st.

Please check and work with your child to determine if they will need to take out Loans to pay for college. Check the status of their Financial Aid on their college account. If at all possible, try to avoid college loans if they can by using scholarships and grant money.
