Mrs. Morse's Weekly Newsletter
May 25th - 29th
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL CLASSES
I apologize for getting this newsletter out later than normal. The long weekend got away from me. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the three-day weekend, spend some time with family (hopefully you still like all of the people you live with), and maybe even spend some time outdoors.
First, please make sure you vote for the design of your 8th grade t-shirt if you have not done so already. All you have to do is click on the following link and choose your favorite design.
https://forms.gle/rubH2zG5TFHdENip7 **You must vote before 4 pm on Wednesday, so vote now!**
Second, please make sure you come by Parkside on Thursday, May 28th between 11:30 and 2:30 to DROP OFF any school property. This is NOT a chance for you to get into the building to get anything (information about getting your belongings from your locker should be coming shortly). So, what should you return to school on Thursday? Library books, textbooks, chorus outfits, athletic uniforms, books you borrowed from teachers, school owned instruments, calculators, or anything else owned by Parkside (other than devices checked our for distance learning...you get to keep those for now because school isn't over). BONUS...your favorite language arts teacher will be there on Thursday helping to collect the stuff you are returning (of course I mean ME!)

P. 1, 2, 5 CLASSES
This week we are reviewing nonfiction with a focus on fact, opinion, relevance, and accuracy. All of your work is available through Canvas. All you have to do is log in, go to my class, and click on MODULES. If you are still having a hard time accessing Canvas, please email me!
If you did not finish your personal narrative last week, you can continue to work on it this week. That module will remain open until June 1st.

P. 3 and 4 CLASSES (Cambridge Literature)
This week we will continue with our nonfiction review. Last week's module is still open, so if you did not get it done last week-finish it this week! You have a short module this week (because it is a short week). Please work your way through the module an retake the Naiku assessment from the second quarter for the chance to improve your year average.
BOOK CLUBS START TOMORROW. We will have our first meeting tomorrow. Please look for your meeting invite in your email tomorrow afternoon. This meeting will be brief, but we will discuss some important information such as: expectations, due dates, procedures, and requirements. Please make sure you obtain a copy of your chosen book ASAP. You should start reading no later than this Friday, so that you are prepared to discuss the beginning of the book at the start of next week (we will talk about how much to read each week in tomorrow's meeting). If you miss tomorrow's meeting, don't worry! I am going to send meeting notes to everyone. There is at least one group whose meeting time might need to be adjusted in order for all members to be able to attend. If you have any questions, please ask!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!
Have a wonderful week!
Mrs. Morse
