Ochoa Community School
Ochoa Garden has been showcased by TUSD
We are delighted to share that our garden was showcased this month. School gardens are fantastic opportunities for students to learn about agriculture, biology, and environmental science in a hands-on way. Not only do they provide educational benefits, but they also promote healthy eating habits and environmental stewardship. It's great to see students involved in planting, harvesting, and enjoying the fruits (or in this case, the lettuce and cilantro) of their labor. Keep up the good work!
Open Enrollment
Thank you for all of you who have registered for next school year. If you have not registered and need support please call the office at 520-225-2400.
5 Health tips for the month of March
Here are five health tips for kids for the month of March:
1. Stay Active: With the weather getting warmer, encourage kids to spend more time outdoors engaging in physical activities like playing sports, riding bikes, or going for walks. Physical activity is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind.
2. Eat Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables: March marks the beginning of spring, which brings a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables into season. Encourage kids to eat a colorful variety of seasonal produce like strawberries, spinach, broccoli, and carrots to ensure they get a wide range of nutrients.
3. Stay Hydrated: As the weather starts to warm up, it's important for kids to stay hydrated, especially if they're spending time playing outside. Encourage them to drink plenty of water throughout the day and limit sugary drinks like soda and fruit juices.
4. Practice Sun Safety: With more time spent outdoors, it's crucial to protect kids' skin from the sun's harmful UV rays. Remind them to wear sunscreen with a high SPF, wear protective clothing like hats and sunglasses, and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day.
5. Prioritize Sleep: Adequate sleep is essential for kids' overall health and well-being. Establish a consistent bedtime routine and ensure they're getting the recommended amount of sleep for their age group. Good sleep habits contribute to better concentration, mood, and overall health.
By following these health tips, kids can stay happy, active, and healthy throughout the month of March and beyond.
