Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 18th February 2022
Exploring our Cathedral
Early Years Explore our Cathedral
Our big wonder of the week in Reception has been 'Why is the word God so important to Christians?'. We learnt about what the Bible says about God being the creator of all things and enjoyed exploring the Creation story. We have thoroughly enjoyed a range of activities including a visit to the Cathedral, and activities to explore the wonders of each of the seven days of creation.
A team effort in building a model of Ripon Cathedral following our visit.
Christians believe that God created the sky. We experimented in colour mixing to paint some super sky paintings.
We explored the importance of light and what happens to plants if they grow without it.
Natural material artwork was a reminder that Christians believe God to be the creator of all things.
School Update
Jewellery
We have noted an increase in the number of children wearing jewellery and nail varnish in school. Please can we remind parents that children should not wear necklaces and bracelets. We do allow watches however they should not connect to a phone or be able to take photographs. Earrings are allowed, however these should be stud earrings and should be removed for PE lessons, or covered with tape or plasters.
Children should not wear make-up or nail polish in school.
Have a wonderful half term. I do hope the weather improves for us all so that we can make the most of time with family. We look forward to seeing you again on Monday 28th February.
Kind regards
Steven Holmes
Year 5 - Worship about refugees
The children enjoyed an interactive quiz about and they thought about the difference we can make to refugees who we might meet.
World Book Day Thursday 3rd March
World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March. We will be celebrating by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We do hope the half term break will give families a chance to think about costumes. Please do not spend lots of money! We will also be encouraging the children to bring along the book their character is from.
