DCPS Updates for School Year 20- 21
Greetings Parents,
Principal Davis here with a special announcement and request. As you know, on Thursday July 30th, 2020 Mayor Bowser announced that we will begin School Year 20 - 21 with all students learning at home. This will apply for all grades, PreK through 12th, and will last at least through Term 1 (August 31st to November 6th).
As a parent, I know this announcement impacts families differently. As the father of three school- age sons and one in college, I understand the difficulty of balancing learning at home with your own work schedule. However, I am thankful that the city has prioritized the health and safety of our children, teachers and community.
Learning at Home
Parents, I want you to know that we are working hard to ensure that your “Learning At Home” experience is more structured and predictable. To this end, your schedule will look a little different than it did in the spring. Our educators have been working very hard to create a stronger virtual experience for all of our Browne scholars.
We expect our scholars to be more engaged and connected with their teachers and peers through frequent live instruction. On most days, our Pre-K through 5th grade scholars should anticipate 1 to 3 hours of live lessons with their teachers and our middle school scholars (6th- 8th grade) should anticipate 4+ hours of live lessons each day with plenty of time to complete assignments and work with their peers.
Parents, in order for us to make “Learning at Home” successful, it is imperative that all families complete the technology survey.
A Typical Day of "Learning at Home"
Technology Survey for Families
Beginning the 20-21 school year will require technological readiness and we want to ensure we have enough devices for every family. In order to make this a reality I am asking every Browne family to complete this short technology access survey about your specific device and high-speed internet connectivity needs ASAP. This information will be used to inform DCPS’ planning and priorities as it relates to Browne Education Campus. Families that complete this survey will ensure a device for their scholars. Please complete the survey for every child enrolled at Browne Education Campus.
Again, I am asking that you please complete this link ASAP. The link can be completed using your phone. The survey will stay open through August; however, we encourage all families to complete the questionnaire by 6pm Friday August 7th, 2020. If you are unable to fill out the survey, please text the information below to Principal Davis at 202-677-5338 and we will work to ensure your device request is entered.

Actualizaciones de DCPS para SY 20-21
Saludos Padres,
