A Message From Mrs. Acosta
Dear Hart Families,
We had a great week at Hart, and I am so proud of our 3rd and 4th graders as they wrapped up the last of their STAAR testing. They, along with their teachers, have worked so incredibly hard in growing as a learner this year, that their efforts have not gone unnoticed. At Hart there were a lot of celebrations this week, including honoring the commitment of our amazing front office staff, Ms. Quigley, Ms. Mancini, and Ms. Olvera for Administrative Assistant Day. These ladies are so flexible and ready to help in any capacity when needed. A special thank you to Nurse Tami and our parent volunteer who graciously covered the front office while these ladies enjoyed an off campus lunch together earlier in the week. On Thursday we had some of our students showcase their art work at the Lucas Art Display and are so proud of their recognition. Friday, we honored Ms. Scott, as Heart of a Teacher for the month of April, along with Ms. Hicks, MTSS Lead, as Heart of a Support. We had fun calling Ms. Hicks to share the news and face timing with Ms. Scott. Ms. Crews accepted both recognitions on their behalf. Their work towards our campus goals of responding to the needs of students has had a great impact on the overall growth of our instructional practices at Hart.
Below in the newsletter, Nurse Tami shared we have seen an increase in a stomach bug and reminds parents about the 24 hour fever free before returning to school. Please helps us in keeping the spreading of germs down by keeping your child home when they are sick. We have some many fun activities coming up and do not want our students to miss out on these opportunities.
Included in this newsletter is a lot of information for upcoming events in the month of May, that include sign-ups for Fast Pass, volunteers for field day, and more. Please make sure you scroll down to see these links and information pertaining to these events. Teacher appreciation is coming up the week of May 6th and our fabulous PTO has included some themed day ideas within this newsletter to celebrate the extraordinary staff we have at Hart.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and tonight the Acosta household will be wild as we entertain my niece (7) and nephew (6), reminding us how busy the littles can be. See everyone Monday morning.

Visiting Hart Elementary
In a continued effort to support our safety and security posture at the front entrance doors at each campus, all visitors are required to show ID prior to entering our facilities. The front office staff member will continue to ask each visitor what their intended business is at the campus, and visitors will present their ID to the camera intercom system prior to entry. Once the visitor ID is verified, the front office staff member will then allow entry. Note: Visitors should keep their ID in hand, as they will have to use it to sign into Raptor upon entry.
Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
Volunteer Background Check
We love volunteers at HES, but in order to volunteer or go on a field trip, then you must have an updated Volunteer Background check for the current school year. Please complete your background check now!
A Note from Nurse Tami
There have been increasing cases of a stomach bug at Hart. Please do not send your child to school if she/he is vomiting, has diarrhea, or has a fever. Your child must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before they can return to school.
End of Year (MEDICATIONS) - Please make sure your child has exactly enough medication to finish the school year. We cannot send any medications home with students (including over the counter). A parent or guardian must pick up the medication from the clinic.
Any medications not picked up by the last day of school will be discarded. Medications CANNOT be stored during the summer months. If your child will continue to need medications during the 2024-2025 school year, you will need to have a new medication form (and action plan if needed) completed for the fall.
