Dr. Rachel Williams, Principal
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
It was great to see some Colt families at the Safety and Security meeting last week at Centennial High School. Thank you for your participation. I anticipate more information to come out of the small group discussions in the near future. I did not participate in that portion of the evening as principal, because they had pre-selected room facilitators. I do know, however, notes were taken and will be shared.
This week, I want to reach out again to assist our PTO in seeking candidates for several open leadership positions. Our PTO works very closely with our school team and they assist us with plans that help create the vision of our campus. Historically, we have had a terrific set of parents who take an interest in either our School Governance Council or PTO. At this time, we have nominees for our upcoming SGC election to fill the open slot. Our PTO still has needs. Without parents stepping into leadership roles, we will have gaps in the normal positions and potentially some categories may suffer. Like me, I know that concerns you as we live and/or work in a school with high parental involvement. Please reach out to Rossy Finol-Bishop (our current co-president) or any other member of the board if you have an interest in any position.
School Governance Elections will begin on Monday and continue all next week. Please become familiar with our two candidates, Jeannie and John, and make sure to vote when you have a free moment. The candidates have provided information about themselves below and you can also watch the video: https://youtu.be/tGKm7mwWRAo.
The SGC team ensures we are moving forward with our school’s strategic plan which will be rolled out very soon. It is in the final stages of approval from Fulton County.
I hope you have a great weekend. We have two more weeks prior to Spring Break, and EVERY DAY MATTERS!
2018 SGC Parent Candidates
Georgia Milestones Assessment
During the month of April, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking the Georgia Milestones Assessment. 3rd and 4th grade students will take the ELA and Math End of Grade assessment while our 5th grade students will take the End of Grade Assessment in the areas of ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Teachers will indicate exact testing dates for their classes via newsletters. We know that our students will perform well due to the high level of instruction they receive each day. We encourage students to work carefully and do their best. This is a message that is not limited to just testing, but applies to other academic and social areas as well. Please remember that lunch visitors and volunteers will not be admitted during the month of April to help us maintain a calm and orderly environment. If you have any questions about testing, please reach out to Mrs. Richardson at richardsona1@fultonschools.org.
