Flowers in the Attic
By V.C. Andrews
Plot
This book is the first of many in the series "The Dollangengers." The main conflict starts when the father of 4 dies. The mom immediately turns to her mother for help. Her and the 4 children move into the grandmothers house then to find out she is evil and abusive. The kids are eventually separated from their mother and locked in an attic for over 2 years with no contact to the outside world.
Characters
Cathy- Oldest daughter
Chris- Oldest Son
Carrie and Cory- Twin siblings
Corrine- Mother of the 4 kids
Olivia- Evil Grandmother
Favorite Part
My favorite part of the book was when Chris and Cathy snuck out of the attic at night. I liked it because they felt like they were free again and it took away some stress from the characters.
Recommendation
I loved the book and would recommend it to teenagers or older because there is child abuse. "Flowers in the Attic" uses some offensive and inappropriate words which may be harsh for younger readers.
Goodreads: Flowers in the Attic, Lifetime (60 second trailer)
