Chick-fil-a Spirit Day October 27th
Each year we celebrate Red Ribbon Week as a way to take a united stand against drugs. Started in 1985, this campaign is observed nationwide and gives us an opportunity to promote awareness about healthy choices and safe behavior. Keep an eye on the trees in front of the school as each of our classes add ribbons to them! Look for information on our Spirit Week theme days in your child’s take home folder. Our week’s activities will culminate in a Bike Rodeo for grades K-5.
Monday: “Proud to be Drug Free”, Wear RED
Tuesday: “Sock it To Drugs”, Wear CRAZY SOCKS
Wednesday: “Don’t get Mixed up in Drugs”, Wear MISMATCHED clothing
Thursday: “Team Up Against Drugs”, Wear your favorite sports SHIRT or JERSEY
Friday: “Say BOO to Drugs”, Wear ORANGE & BLACK (No costumes!)
BIKE RODEO: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 & FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30
Bike Rodeo is a fun way for us to promote the importance of bike safety. Students in grades K-5 will bring their bikes to school and participate in a bike obstacle course and then ride around the school on a designated path. K & 1st grade students will ride around our track, while 2nd-5th grade students will ride along sidewalks around the school. All students are REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET. Bikes only please, no scooters allowed. If you are interested in volunteering to help keep our children safe, please visit the PTA website for more information and to sign-up.
Covid-19 Safety Measures- The entire bike rodeo is an outdoor event. We will share a map before the event with bike staging/drop off points for each class. This will allow each class to start from a different location, which prevents a large number of Cardinals from being in close proximity. Students will be naturally social distanced while riding bikes outside.

WCE Gives from the Heart...It's Food Drive Time!!!
The Society of St Stephens provides food for over 500 people each year during the Thanksgiving season. Their food pantry is in need of many items. Please join us in helping support these community members in need. We are asking that our students help contribute food items from November 2--November 13. All food items are greatly appreciated, but we have been asked to consider certain items that are in greater need. Items will be dropped off in the front hallway. Our students will be tallying the items each day. Each food item donated earns one point and the special requested items will earn two points. The grade level with the most points at the end will receive a popcorn party. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Cardinal Counseling
Groups with the Counselor
The purpose of small groups facilitated by the counselor is to bring students with similar needs together to share, practice new skills, and connect with their peers to enhance their social and emotional development. Groups typically range in size from 4 to 8 students and meet for 6 sessions total during the normal school day.
Topics for this nine weeks will be decision making, personal responsibility, or anxiety. Please fill out the following form, if you are interested in recommending your child.
