RISD Parent Survey
The survey link is also mobile/smartphone compatible. Dr. Waggoner is asking all parents to give feedback for each school your students attend. Please share your thoughts about critical issues such as academic preparation, student support, parent engagement, safety and behavior, special programs, school and district operations. You only need to complete one survey, even if you have more than one child attending Skyview. However, if you have students at multiple RISD schools, you may use the same survey link to complete the survey again. Most of the survey is multiple choice and should only take a few minutes. Thank you for your time and thoughtful participation.

READ, READ, READ!
Don’t forget to read during the holidays. Reading develops the mind. It is how we discover new things. Reading develops the imagination and besides reading is just fun. So encourage your children to pick up a book during the holidays.
6th Grade Parents
6th graders recently attended the Transition 101 CCR Event at LHHS. They learned about different Career Clusters that they may choose to study once entering into Junior High and High School. They also learned about leaving a Digital Footprint which teaches them how to conduct themselves appropriately while using different social media outlets.
Remember, if your student is applying for AVID, their applications are due next Tuesday, Dec. 8th. Please let Ms. Cannon the Counselor know if you have any questions by calling 469-593-2413.

Nurse’s Notes
The holidays are here. To keep the holidays joyful, here are some holiday safety tips to keep in mind.
- When toy shopping, beware of thrift stores and garage sales that may have recalled toys.
- Be sure that toys your child receives are appropriate for his or her age. Read the instructions and show your child how to use them properly.
- Don't let very young children who still mouth objects play with toys meant for older siblings. Building blocks, crafts kits, board games with small playing pieces -- anything with small objects could be accidentally swallowed and pose a choking hazard.
- Small, unpackaged toys come without warning labels. A "small parts tester" available at toy, drug, and hardware stores can help you check for safety.
- Gift wrap, nuts, hard candy, and popcorn -- even batteries from electronic toys -- can be choking hazards. Plastic bags can cause suffocation.
- Make sure kids aren't trying sleds, toboggans, scooters, bicycles, or other riding toys in streets where a car could hit them. Also, be sure they are supervised and wearing the right safety gear, including helmets.
