Parents must complete the process and verify student/parent information through Skyward Family Access no later than Friday, January 25, 2019.
In Skyward under Family Access tab, you can:
• Fill out and submit the re-enrollment form
• Upload your proof of residency
STEP 2: Annual Harmony Public Schools
Proof of Residency Verification
Completed each year by returning Harmony Public Schools students
Each family must provide documentation verifying their current residency within the geographical boundaries for your campus. Parents are asked to either upload or bring “Proof of Residency” documents to the campus of their student(s) schools prior to the deadline of Friday, January 25, 2019.
• Current School year (2019-2020) utility bills such as light, gas, water bills
• Lease or mortgage statements showing a physical address will be accepted
• For a complete list, please refer to the parent/student handbook on page 8.
• P.O. Box addresses will not be accepted

Harmony Houston Invitational Chess Tournament
We held our first Harmony Houston Invitational Chess Tournament on Tuesday, January 15th. Around 70 students attended from 7 schools with the furthest away from campus being the Beaumont campus.
Mr. Schiller, Ms. Gigante, and the HSOT teams won the 2nd place in the Beginner division and won the 3rd place in the Experienced division.
Over 70 students participated and HSOT student Zulfiqar H. won the 2nd place in the Individual division.
What an amazing accomplishment for our first tournament! CONGRATULATIONS!
Harmony School of Technology Students Earned Honor Roll of Distinction in American Mathematics Competitions 8
HOUSTON, 01/17/2019 - Student(s), Carlos E., Alexandra N., and Aden P. from Harmony School of Technology scored in the top 1% nationally on the American Mathematics Competitions 8 ( AMC 8 ). The competition was in November 18, 2018. The official results were released by MAA two weeks ago. “We’re incredibly proud of our students earned recognition for their accomplishments. This is a great honor not only for Alexandra, Carlos, and Aden but also for Harmony Public Schools.

Invitation for Campus Needs Assessment Meeting
Dear Parents,
Each year Harmony School of Technology administrators, teachers, and parents meet together in a series of meetings to discuss and provide feedback about the areas of strengths and areas of improvement for our school. Harmony School of Technology invites parents to join Campus Improvement Team and contribute to these meetings so that we can work together to improve our school for our students’ success.
We would like our parents to join us on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in Building A 4th-floor room 408. The focus areas will be School Culture, Staff Quality, Technology, School Context and Organization, Curriculum & Instruction, and Student Achievement.

GATE (GIFTED AND TALENTED EDUCATION) ANNOUNCEMENT!
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking nominations for students in grades 1-12 for gifted and talented screening. Effective January 14, 2019, anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment.
Nomination forms are available at the front office and on the school's web site. The forms must be returned to the front office by Friday, February 8, 2019. Assessment will begin on Monday, February 11, 2019. For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school's GT Coach/teacher Ms. Gigante at agigante@harmonytx.org.

Real Madrid Campus Experience & Madrid-Toledo Trip 2019
Program highlights
· First-come, first-served basis, ONLY 25 seats available
· Only rising 9-12 grade (14-17 years old) boys and girls
· Application form and $600 deposit must be made no later than February 1, 2019
· Trip cost $3400 includes airfare, accommodation, transportation, 3 meals per day, guided tours, park & museum fees.
· Payment plan is available. Last payment must be paid by June 1, 2019

Harmony Public Schools - Alternate Meals Policy
ATTENTION: Students are not allowed to purchase a la carte items if their account has a $0 or negative balance. If they are purchasing a milk, we will allow them one charge as a courtesy. The Lunch Clerk will inform the student and parent that there must be funds in the meal account for a la carte purchases. The next attempt to purchase a la carte items will be denied until the account shows a positive balance.
The district charge limit applies to reimbursable meals only and not a la carte purchases.

CLEAR BACKPACK
In an effort to improve the safety measures currently in place, HSOT requires all school students to use clear backpacks for the 2019-2020 school year..
What you need to know about HSOT's clear backpack policy
* Colored, transparent backpacks are not allowed. Only fully clear backpacks.
* Mesh backpacks are not allowed. Mesh side pockets are allowed on the backpack. Students are permitted to only use clear backpacks.
* Stripes in any location are not allowed on the backpack.
* The backpack may have colored straps.
* Non-clear lunch boxes are permitted to be carried within the backpacks.
* There are no size specifications.
* Small company logos are allowed, but large logos, monograms or other visual design obstructions are not.
* Athletic bags and instrument cases will be allowed on campus but these bags must be stored as soon as the student arrives at school. Athletic bags and instrument cases must be placed in lockers, art classrooms or athletic locker rooms.
* We understand the concern with the privacy of certain items contained within backpacks. Students will be permitted to carry such items in a small makeup pouch within the backpack or a small purse, sized 6 inches by 9 inches.
