News Updates
In the future the Pawpower Press will be a weekly to bi-weekly email newsletter. Due to the fact that we are in a new school year with lots of information to share with our community-newsletters will be coming more frequently over the next few weeks.
We value parent communication and feedback-so please let us know what you think about our new newsletter format.
PSSA Results
As many of you already know, districts across the state are still feeling the shock of the 2014-2015 PSSA results.
We were aware that because of changes in the ELA and Math assessments, we were likely to see slight decreases in scores. However, the state neglected to inform districts that they were going to adjust the achievement level cut scores (Advanced, Proficient, Basic and Below Basic) in the same year. This caused a dramatic decline in state math scores and a somewhat less dramatic decline in ELA scores. Our district scores remained relatively strong, compared to the state.
Basically, the scores indicate to what degree students in grades 3-8 have achieved proficiency toward new standards under new cut score criteria.
Please know that we do not believe the scores are indicative of the learning that place in Neshaminy SD, nor are they indicative of the expertise of our teachers at Ferderbar, or the leadership of our schools. They only give us a new starting point. We will move forward with the new information and continue to provide learning experiences that meet and go far beyond the state standards!
For those students who took the test last year in grades 3, 4 and 5 your child's scores will be sent to you sometime in September.
