Lunch Bunch
All students are welcomed to join a lunch bunch with me sometime through the school year-this is an opportunity to connect and check in on how things are going for them. I have some structured social activities that we do together and socialize while they enjoy their lunch
Fabulous Friends
I’ll be hosting some grade level voluntary small group lessons around the topic of friendships-how to make friends, how we engage with friends, and what healthy friendships are. Students may be invited or may self-select if they would like to attend-this will happen during their lunch recess time.
This month, we will be talking all about Courage! We all experience moments in our lives when we have to choose to do what is right and Kind. Sometimes, it’s not easy to know what choice to make. We need to have the right tools to make those decisions and be strong enough to follow through. Great conversations can be had about how this looks at school and at home and recognizing and honoring times that your child and other family members have shown courage.
PLEASE, if your child or your family are experiencing challenges, please reach out to me for support.

School Librarian Day-We Love Mrs. Nudo!
First graders from Mrs. Schrotzberger's class delivered some magnificent artwork to our school (and district!) librarian, Mrs. Nudo. She goes above and beyond for the students and staff in every building she steps foot into. We are all so lucky to have her here at Grant Watts!
Happy Spring and Wear Your Glasses!
THIS WEEK IN THE LIBRARY!: I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break! This week in the library we learned about a Hindu celebration–Holi Festival! It is a tradition now celebrated across the globe and literally right down the road at Topaz Farm on Sauvie Island. We read a beautiful book Festival of Colors to learn about this unique celebration that recognizes the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring. It was fun to hear from friends in our school who are Hindu talk about how their families celebrate. We also talked about the next total solar eclipse on 4/8–it was so great to tell them all about the excitement we experienced in 2017! The next one for North America will be in 2044! Always learning in the library!
YOU ARE THE BEST!: Way to go–many of you found lost books over the break! That makes me so happy and I appreciate your efforts to get books back on the shelves for other students to enjoy! On that note, we got a lot of books back this week with no labels?! No library barcode labels and/or spine labels. Please do NOT remove any labels from the books. It makes it very difficult to figure out who the book belongs to if it is a book that has multiple copies, so you might get overdue penalties until I can narrow down what copy was missing the label. And, it also puts the book in the book hospital waiting for new labels versus back on the shelf for others to enjoy. Thanks for taking great care of our books!
Happy National School Library Month ~ Mrs. Nudo
