Mariner Memo
11/01-11/05/2021
PRINCIPAL'S NOTE
What an incredible week! It was such a fun week seeing kids laughing and having fun together. Below you will see some of the highlights of the fun we had this week. Luke Holtgeerts, our Video Production teacher, put together the video for our staff and dance. A huge thank you to each staff member who participated in putting it together.
There are several pictures from our Homecoming week as well. The Homecoming dance, dress up days, concerts, staff vs. students slowpitch game, sporting events, the assembly, and the tailgate were all fun events and showed that the Sehome Mariners still know how to come together have a good time.
This week, we have several days with different schedules. Monday and Tuesday, juniors will do their state testing that was postponed from the spring of their 10th grade year. Other students will have an extended Anchor time to complete any needed work or review any learning before the quarter ends on Friday. Wednesday, we will have a regular schedule. Thursday is an early release and Friday there is no school for teacher professional learning.
I hope you had a great weekend and took time to enjoy a few moments of fall sunshine on your face.
Know that I appreciate each of you and hope you have a great weekend! Please reach out with any questions, concerns, feedback, or celebrations. I love hearing from you!

SMARTER BALANCE TESTING
On Monday, Nov. 1 and Tuesday, Nov. 2 Sehome will be having all Juniors take the Smarter Balance tests in ELA and Math. The Smarter Balance tests are one way that students can meet a graduation requirement and therefore we want them all to have the opportunity to take the tests. Testing will occur between 8:30-10am on both days.
Additionally we have some Freshmen and Seniors who will be taking their Smarter Balance tests that they did not complete on Oct. 13th.
If you have any questions please contact Mike Couto.

REMINDER FROM SCHOOL NURSE
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
When a student requires medication at school, either prescription or over the counter (OTC), parents/guardians must return a completed medication authorization form with directions from a licensed health care provider (LHCP) to Sehome. One exception is that certain OTC medications that are self-administered do not require LHCP instructions, but they do require a parent/guardian to complete the medication authorization form. There is no situation that a student taking medications at school does not need a medication authorization on file.
The privilege of students self-caring their medications, whether prescription or OTC, requires students to take their medication as instructed on the authorization and being aware that they may not share their medications with anyone. Medications brought to school must be in the original prescription container or manufacturers labelled OTC container. Medication authorizations expire at the end of the current school year, or sooner as per LHCP instructions.
Link to Medication Authorization Form can be found here
