Tiger Feedback
March 22, 2024
Park Family,
I hope that you had a great week back after Spring Break!
The quote above is from the author of Atomic Habits, James Clear. The way we spend our time, shows what we value. The activities that we choose to participate in shapes who we are.
As an organization, it is our goal to spend our time and energy to create a CommUnity of Excellence. Just like most things, we are a work in progress. However, this goal should direct how we spend our time and energy with intention to create such a CommUnity.
I would ask that you take a moment and reflect on our Vision Statement captured in The Park Way:
Vision Statement:
Cypress Park High School will serve the learning community by creating a culture of excellence that empowers all individuals to reach beyond their greatest potential. We will provide a safe and positive learning community based on mutual respect, scholarly achievement and service. Students will be challenged to dream big and work hard in order to meet the demands of our global society. Our goal is to lead, guide and support students to make responsible decisions that result in multiple options for career and college pathways.
This is truly a "worthy pursuit." Thank you for intentionally spending time and energy in striving to make this vision become a reality for our Tigers and our CommUnity!
Chris

Tiger Band Indoor Percussion earned World-Class Status
Cypress Park HS has been promoted to Percussion Scholastic World Class. Please see below for some context of this major accomplishment:
Winter Guard International (WGI) is broken into 3 classifications:
A-Class (beginning-intermediate skill set) - about 60% of all indoor programs compete in A class
Open-Class (intermediate- advanced skill set) - about 35% of all indoor programs compete in Open Class
World-Class (advanced-extremely advanced skill set) - the top 5% of indoor programs compete in world class
The movement of our program by the WGI steering committee means that the organization has all voted and had discussions at length that out program and the students are best representing characteristics of a world class ensemble.
Schools work for decades to build a program to this level, and our percussion program has made it in its 5th year of existence. This day has set Cypress Park on a trajectory that will leave a lasting legacy.
Huge congratulations to Mr. Tomlinson for the vision, leadership and work ethic to lead our Tigers to this World Class Level! Special thanks to Mr. Barfield, Mr. Guzman, and Ms. Zientek as well!
