Community Helper - School Nurse
In honor of the community helper theme, our very own preschool nurse, Nurse Bailey Hewit, paid a special visit to the classrooms. She greeted our young students with a warm smile and explained the important role that nurses play in keeping people healthy and safe. The children were fascinated and curious, asking many questions about her job and how she helps people. The preschoolers were thrilled to have a real-life community helper visit their classroom, and they learned valuable lessons about the importance of taking care of their health. It was a memorable and educational experience for all involved.
Self-Regulation Station
During recent Social Emotional Lessons with Ms. Anna, the students read the book We Disagree by Bethanie Deeney Murguia. Learning to listen to and respect others' opinions is an essential social emotional skill for preschool students. Classrooms talked about how sometimes we like different things than our friends, and that's okay. The children enjoyed a movement activity where they selected their preferences (e.g. Do you like winter or summer better?) and practiced asking each other questions about their friends' opinions (e.g. What do you like about winter?). You can try this activity at home with your family! Ask your child whether family members' preferences are the same or different and practice listening to others opinions. Here are some sample "this or that" questions:
Milk or Juice?
Rain or Snow?
Trucks or Cars?
Chocolate Ice Cream or Vanilla Ice Cream?

Fingerprinting is NOT required if you are volunteering under supervision of a school staff member. This included room parents, guest speakers and volunteers at field day events.
*They can take awhile to process so please fill them out early so they have enough time to be returned prior to a field trip or volunteer opportunity
Please provide a copy of your fingerprinting receipt to Susan Crespi crespis@cantonma.org to let us know you completed fingerprinting.
