Oxford Attendance Corner
Our attendance rate continues to decline and are percent of students considered chronically absent continues to increase. It is important that students are in school every day in order to learn and keep up with their grade level peers. We are noticing that our students who are considered chronically absent are missing so much of their education. It is impacting their performance in school. Are there barriers you are experiencing getting your child to school every day and on time? If so, please reach out to Mrs. Taylor (j_taylor@chuh.org) or Mrs. Fiala (e_fiala@chuh.org) or call 216-371-6525.

Kindergarten Registration
Students new to the District need to register for Kindergarten as soon as possible. Please don't wait to register until August. It will help us to prepare for the school year next year. If you are registered this will ensure that you receive communication from the school and the District ASAP. If your child is already registered for PreK this year then they will automatically registered for Kindergarten. To begin the online registration process please click on the QR code above.
Family Survey
Dear Families,
In CHUH, part of our mission is to establish and maintain an effective learning environment and positive school climate by implementing behavioral supports needed for all students to achieve social, emotional and academic success. To that end, every year, we conduct a parent survey for families to provide input and feedback on current PBIS practices in our school. The responses to the surveys are anonymous. Emails and names are not collected, and the survey only takes a few minutes to complete. Your feedback is used by our school to identify family perception of the implementation of school-wide PBIS. You can complete the survey using this link
Thank you for your support.
Reaching Heights is looking for new board members!
Reaching Heights is a local nonprofit dedicated to connecting our community and our schools in order to foster highly valued public schools that provide all CH-UH students with a successful education. They do this through programming, events, and resources that support district faculty and staff, engage and enrich our wider community, and, most importantly, help to ensure that all students and their families have what they need to access opportunities and grow.
If you’re interested in learning more, contact the Reaching Heights Board President, Josie Moore, at josie@josephinemoore.com.
Summer Reading Camp Opportunity
My name is Betsy Hockey, and along with a fabulous team at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights, have worked together to offer a week-long overnight camp to help children finishing 3rd or 4th grade with their reading skills. This will be our 13th year providing this cost-free camp, where campers spend the mornings in small group reading-based classes, and afternoons and evenings doing traditional camp activities.
We are recruiting campers who would benefit from this setting, and are asking for your support in identifying potential campers. Please see the attached information forms for families and feel free to students or their parents. We only have spaces for 24 campers and applications have already been received!
Thank you so much for your support of this program. Please feel free to contact me at EHockeyPT@aol.com or 216-650-0388 if you have any questions!

One School-One Book
We will be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a building. The book should be read at home with your child. We will send home weekly activities that you can complete and turn back into school. We will raffle off a fun basket candy and prizes for the students that complete and turn in the most work. The book reading will run from April 9-May 3.
From the Office of Exceptional Children
Are you overwhelmed trying to find adapted or inclusive summer programming for your child? Are you unsure where to find the grants and funds to pay for adapted recreation or camps?

Joy Howard, Parent Mentor for Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, will also be there to answer questions and connect with families. Childcare is available, but registration is required. For details, see connectingforkids.org/event-5521723

CHUH Communication Plan
The District has adopted a plan for communications with persons with disabilities, which is available at the following link: Communication Plan. The plan establishes procedures to ensure that the District's communications with persons with disabilities, including applicants, participants, members of the public, and companions with disabilities, are as effective as its communications with others.
