Planting a Seed for Environmental Awareness
On Thursday, March 21, at 3 PM, we will be hosting "Planting a Seed for Environmental Awareness." Families are invited to attend to plant a seed to take home to grow. We will have a presentation by some of our fourth graders on composting and some of our second graders on the plant cycle. They are excited to share their learning and promote environmental awareness in our school community and beyond. To attend the event, please respond to ensure we have a sufficient number of plants and seeds. Please provide a response for each child. Depending on the response, we may have enough materials for each child. Otherwise, there will be one pot per family. You can respond here: https://forms.gle/TuA5FXw4ygY7wV176
CalKids Information
The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS), launched in 2022, aims to prepare California children for post-secondary education expenses financially. Eligible low-income public school students in grades 1-12 and all California newborns, regardless of income, automatically receive funded savings accounts through CalKIDS. Students within our District may be eligible to access these funds upon enrollment in higher education institutions, utilizing them for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other educational expenses. Low-income California public school students identified by the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) were automatically enrolled in CalKIDS if registered in grades 1-12 during the 2021-22 school year or in 1st grade during the 2022-23 school year.

Nutrition Services
All students need to be sure they let their teacher know the day before they buy lunch. We may not have enough lunches if they do not request one. Also, please remind your child that they should not be getting lunch if they bring one. On Wednesdays, due to the modified schedule, lunch is not served. Instead, we serve brunch at recess. Please remind your child to let their teacher know on Tuesday that they will be buying brunch on Wednesday. You can find the lunch menu here: https://www.schoolnutritionandfitness.com/index.php?sid=2501081743337031&page=menus
Birthdays and Holidays
If you would like to send in birthday or holiday favor bags, you must approve this with your classroom teacher first. Also, there can be NO food items in the bags. If there are food items or these have not been pre-approved, we will need to send the bags home with the child who brought them.
