SLE Weekly Update December 17, 2021
Good afternoon East families,
After a busy few months, we have finally arrived at winter break! We hope you and your loved ones take time to create memorable moments and that you get some much-needed rest. Please be aware that in observance of winter break, our offices will be closed from December 20 through December 31, 2021, and we will re-open on Monday, January 3, 2022. Also, please note that email and phone call responses will likely be delayed until after break. If you are in need of immediate assistance regarding an emergency, you will need to call 911 or your local police department. Resources for supporting those in crisis can be found here.
South Lyon East High School is very excited to welcome a new staff member, Miss Jessica Kidwell to our team. Miss Kidwell has joined our staff as a special education teacher and we are very excited to welcome her to SLE! Additionally, we want to welcome Deputy Sandra Ostrand, our new School Resource Officer (SRO). Deputy Ostrand is joining our current SRO, Deputy Tom Biggers. We want to thank the Oakland County Sheriff's department for its continued support and partnership.
Have a great break!
Student Feedback
As we approach the end of the first semester, we would like to take the opportunity to ask our students to provide specific, timely feedback regarding matters impacting South Lyon East High School. As of late, one topic of particular concern has been school safety. Later this evening, students will be emailed a survey that was developed by one of their classmates in consultation with administration. This is an optional survey, but student input is always appreciated and helpful. Students who wish to share their feedback may do so through January 7, 2022.
The results of the survey will be shared with administration and a student forum group that will meet to review them. Actionable items will be discussed and we will update you regarding the outcomes of the forum discussion as soon as we can.
STAMP Testing
South Lyon East High School will be offering STAMP testing on February 8, 2022. There will be a communication coming out on January 3rd detailing the exam and sign-up process. If you would like to learn more about STAMP testing, please feel free to visit the STAMP website.
