Survey Says:
This week, we surveyed students to find out if they would rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds? 44 students chose to be invisible, while 32 students chose to read minds. According to an article from Harvard Business Review, being invisible gives you a reason to work even harder. Feeling like no one notices your competence can be a great motivator to achieve visible results.
Jesus, while invisible to us, sees and knows all. We were created in His image; therefore, we cannot ever be invisible to Him. --Maggie
Class Spotlight: 3rd Grade
The third grade class is taught by Mrs. Cotten. Their Bible verse for the month is Mark 12:30-31, which says, "And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.31 " And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."
Students are learning spelling words on geography, including countries and oceans. In History, they are learning about the Southeast region of the states and about the government of the United States. In science, they are learning about ecosystems and learning about different kinds of plants. To help understand more about plants they planted carrots, cilantro & flowers, which are growing in their classroom window. --Carissa
February Character Trait: Goodness
In February, CCA students are learning about the character trait of goodness. We asked students what goodness means to them and this is what they said. Arrow from 2nd grade said, "Being nice to people and telling them about God" is what goodness is. "When you are good you receive good things, but when you're bad you receive bad consequences," Arielle (5th). Jacob from 9th grade describes goodness as "Doing the right thing and helping others." --Carissa

4th Grade Sings at Senior Valentine's Luncheon
The CCA 4th grade class led by teacher, Galilee Neal, traveled to First Baptist Church on Valentine’s Day to provide entertainment for those attending the senior luncheon. The program began with students singing “I LOVE U GOD.” Students then told about the 12 disciples; Simon who is called Peter, Andrew, James the son of Zebedee, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot & Judas Iscariot.
Students shared funny Valentine’s Day jokes with the audience before ending the program by singing “I Trust in God.” Kahlysi closed with prayer. One hundred and one senior adults were in attendance at FBC for the event. Great job 4th grade for sharing your talents of singing and providing this service to our community.
Chapel
On Friday, chapel was opened with pledges, singing and prayer by the 5th grade class. Everyone in attendance received a rock when they arrived at the gym for chapel. Pastor Van Mellan from Poplar Baptist Church in Warsaw spoke. He began with Mark 4:1-20…when Jesus came many years ago to earth He said that we should hear and listen to Him. Next we were told about the Parable of the Sower. A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.
When a sower goes out to sow seeds, they must prepare the ground for what they are going to sow. The farmer is sowing the Word. Sometimes Satan comes and takes away the Word that was sown in them. A sower cannot plant seeds on a rock…if our heart is hardened we can’t listen to His Word. If we have no roots, the joy of the Word will only last a short time. If seeds are among the weeds, the weeds choke them out and they don’t grow or produce. We hear the Word, but the worries and desires for other things choke the Word. When the sower worked the ground, and made it plant worthy (not rocky or weedy) then the seeds produced. If God's Love is sewn into our heart, and we share His Word to others, repent of our sins, and live for Him every day, day in and day out, as a Christian we too should bear fruit like the seeds that were planted in worthy soil.

CCA High School students traveled to the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City on February 12th to cook lunch for families. The Ronald McDonald House works to support children and their families who require medical care. They are changing the lives of families globally, with over 380 chapters. There are many different ways that people can support this program. You can host a fundraiser, volunteer, and fulfill one of the Houses’ Wish Lists.
Audrey, Clara, Carissa, Emma, Maggie & Kennedy volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City. The House feeds the families lunch and dinner, but these meals depend entirely on volunteers.
