Week of May 16
It was a fine and warm week at school with some noteworthy "wrap-ups." We completed the last MAP testing, and we have only a select number of students who need to finish testing before the window closes for the school year. Our choirs and bands performed beautifully on Monday and Thursday. And our track and field teams hosted their final meet of the year before the Conference Meet next week at Maine East.
This Week
We are still in the middle of Student Council's A-Z Countdown. This week's themes are:
- Monday = Q for Quiet Day to encourage silent reading in class
- Tuesday = R for Rainbow Day to wear one or all colors of the rainbow
- Wednesday = S for Seventies/Sixties to dress from one of these decades
- Thursday = T for Twin Day to dress like/with a friend
- Friday = U for USA day to wear red, white and blue
On Tuesday there will be the last PTA meeting of the year. See below for more information and the Zoom link if you'd like to join us.
On Thursday GBS will be visiting with our 8th graders to give a preview of life as a Titan. On Thursday evening we will hold the NJHS induction ceremony for those students who successfully qualified this year (see below for more information).
On Friday we look forward to the return of our annual end-of-year awards assembly, a wonderful event to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of students. Also on Friday our Band, Orchestra, and Choir groups resume their wonderful tradition of a year-end field trip to a Cubs game.

Next Year Is Here! (At Least for Registration)
It's time to register for the 2022-23 school year. Visit the registration page of the website for a step-by-step guide on how to complete registration. We rely on completed registration and residency verification numbers to plan for the number of class sections for the coming school year, so please register now! If you have questions or need assistance with registration, please contact the school office.
Graduation Party Help Needed
PTA's Graduation Party Committee is seeking 6th and 7th grade parents who don’t have an 8th grade student to chaperone the 8th grade graduation party.
It is a tradition that no 8th grade parents chaperone the graduation party. 6th and 7th grade parents are posted at the doors to ensure no one goes in or out until the party is over. Teachers and administration are also at the event handling any issues that arise and enjoying time with the kids.
It is a wonderful event that each of your children will partake in when they graduate, and you will be depending on parents like yourselves to step up and chaperone in the future.
The time commitments are from 4-6pm to help set up and various times between 8:00-11pm to help chaperone on May 25th. Click here or on the image below to sign up.
