The Outstanding Octopus
Will Aschenbrand
Introduction
You'll be shocked to learn that octopuses can be kept as pets but are known to escape very easily, so this marine fish is not suggested as a pet. These octopuses are smart, weird looking, and cool organisms! Also I enjoyed learning about them. The octopuses movement, it’s habitat, and it’s appearance are all very interesting!
Habitat
An octopus's habitat varies by its species. Octopuses are usually found in subtropical and temperate areas. Also some species stay in shallow water while others are bottom dwellers like the blue ringed octopus which lives in shallow tide pools. The octopuses that stay in shallow water stay near the top and bake in the sun. Picture this a dark and gloomy area with no light except for certain fish like the anglerfish, you can’t see it is like you are in a black hole and you are as cold as ice, that is where some octopuses live!
Movement
An octopus has a very unique way of getting from place to place. Certainly, this eight armed creature finds swimming backwards quite easy. The bulgy eyed beast can move by sucking water in through its siphon a muscular tube on its body, and then blows it out to create a jetpack effect and propels itself through the water. As a matter of fact, once I was on vacation and I saw an octopus moving through the water when I was snorkeling! You would be shocked to find out that octopuses can also move by using its arms and crawling on the ocean floor.
Appearance
You would be amazed at the appearance of this marine organism. Incredibly, an octopus weighs about as much as a toddler which is six to twenty two pounds. Also they are twelve to thirty six inches long! No one would argue that octopuses have many special features such as, their one nine hundred and twenty suction cups! That help capture and strangle their prey. You’ll soon discover that this big headed creature has multiple colours that they can camouflage to like yellow, red, brown, or black! Its incredible that these underwater animals have three hearts! Two hearts are for pumping blood through the gills and one for pumping blood through the rest of the body.
Closing
After researching the octopus I have found that it has a fascinating habitat, an awesome appearance, and its movement is so complex and cool! Also I don’t know if I can ever eat octopus again because I am more intelligent about this bright sea monster and we should stop killing them to eat!

Go Fish!
For my tank I have one Eclipse catfish one galactic glow fish and two silver hatchet fish. I spent a total of $122.30 on fish my tank and decorations to make the fish feel at home! I have a 20 gallon tank and I will only be needing 19 of those for my fish to live. The theme of my tank is the ocean floor. I have ornaments that look rustic and are on the ocean floor. Also I have a sunken submarine with moss growing too look like it is old.
