October Celebrations
We have been reviewing our Behavior Expectations and celebrating student's success. This week the Bronco Cart visited every classroom. Five students from each room were allowed to choose any item from the Bronco Cart. On Friday, each classroom was given a popsicle celebration as a reward for following the Behavior Expectations.
Apple Taste Test Mrs. Kherkher's Room
First graders enjoyed an apple taste test, created an apple pictograph. The pictograph shows students' favorite apples. This was a hands on and very tasty math lesson.
5th Grade Book Tasting Event
Mrs. Wilusz's fifth grade classroom was transformed into a café a few weeks ago. Students gasped and said, "Wow!" when they walked into the classroom coming back from their special. Students "tasted" different genres of books to explore their new classroom library and review different genres. During each round, students chose a book that peeked their interest to "taste" and fill out their tasting menu. Students wrote down the genre, book title, and what they thought of the cover. They also wrote down what they thought of the book when they read the first few pages, how the author hooked or interested them in the book, and finally they rated the book. Additionally, students wrote down interesting parts of their books to share with classmates on their graffiti plates and reflected on their book tasting experience on their reflection napkins. It was an exciting experience! Students found so many books they loved:)
Trunk or Treat
The Briarwood Community is hosting Trunk or Treat. This fun event will be a great way for students to show off costumes and to get some treats! Additional information will be sent out about the event. We will need donations of candy and we will need a few volunteers that are willing to help with set up and clean up of the parking lot. The big purple candy monster will be outside the flag pole starting on Wednesday, October 6th. Students can simply place the bags of candy into the candy monster's mouth. Thank you for helping out. All donations will be split up between the cars that are giving out candy. Please consider attending or helping out at this event. The following form will be used for volunteers.
