How do I Excuse my Student for an Appointment?
Blue Pass!!!!!
If you are needing to pick up your student at a certain time, Parents/Guardians are more than welcome to call us earlier in the day and we will be happy to deliver a blue pass to your student.
A Blue Pass is a student’s pass out of class. For example, if you have an orthodontist appointment in the afternoon, call the attendance line at 970-833-7105 and leave a message with your child’s name, your name and time you would like your student to be released. The school office will then deliver a "blue pass" to your student. When the designated time arrives, your child may show the teacher the blue pass and can leave class to meet you. They will already be checked out in our system and do not need to check out in the office. Parents/Guardians also do not need to come to the office when a Blue Pass is issued.

No Whistling Allowed!
My Russian I students played Quizziz this week. Quizziz is an online game platform I use to reinforce everything from grammar to vocabulary. The students love it. The Russian I students did a quiz about the culture of Russian-speaking countries. One of the questions asked about the “Domovoi (Домовой)”. Russian-speakers believe that every house has a spirit. The spirit is called the “Domovoi” (“Dom” in Russian means “House”). The Russians are extremely superstitious and believe that if you whistle inside your house, you will disturb the “Domovoi”, and bad luck will ensue. The Domovoi is said to reside under your stove (no…not in that drawer that no one knows what to do with), at the center of the house, or beneath a threshold. Small tokens of nourishment and comfort are appreciated by your house ghost, even expected, such as: porridge, milk, bread, salt and tobacco. Maintaining good standards of living within the house will keep him happy, along with respectful behavior and the avoidance of bad language at all times, especially so at the dinner table. Keep your “Domvoi” happy and your home and hearth will be peaceful and prosperous. So, the next time you want to “whistle while you work”, think twice about it and remember…your “Domovoi” is listening. Bis nächste Woche! До следующей недели! Alles gute! Всего хорошего!
