Principal's Letter
Dear West TV Families,
Auction Thank You
I sincerely thank the dozens of volunteers who made the auction a phenomenal success! Your hard work and the contributions of our school families exceeded the PTC’s goal of with over $30,000 and nearly $12,000 for the future paved path. The artwork was amazing, the event organization faultless, the meal was delicious, and everyone had a great time. Thank you!
Staff Appreciation To Parents
Thank you to all who donated food for the potato bar during conferences last week. Staff were grateful to have a delicious meal (or two) and not have to worry about it during one of their very busy days. And also thank you for the breakfast treats! A special thank you to Candace Hackett for organizing the food and cleaning up at the end of the day.
Camp Achieve at West TV
In collaboration with Ridgwood and Cedar Mill Elementary schools we have been awarded another Beaverton Education Foundation Grant to sponsor a 4 week summer school program. The entire four week session will take place only at West TV from July 9 to August 2nd, 9:00 to 2:00, and is open to incoming Kindergarteners through 5th grade.
Registration Form and Information
Sincerely,
Kalay McNamee

Student Survey Window
Student Survey
Elementary school students will be surveyed this year through Student Source. The survey will be available in English and Spanish. The survey window is April 9 - June 15.
Each year the District surveys students, staff, and parents to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
A copy of the survey is available from your child's school and is posted at
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/district/research-reports
After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify Susan Boos in the office.

Physical Education
We are nearing the end of our Jump Rope unit. The students have been demonstrating perseverance, open mindedness, creativity, risk taking, and independence as this is the hardest skill that they will be performing in PE this year. We encourage students to practice at home and at recess. Students have been really creative by practicing with tie down ropes, dog leashes and imaginary jump ropes. Kindergarten, first and second grade are working on mastering a jump rope rhythm, and jumping both forwards and backwards. Third grade is applying their rhythmic jump to learning a variety of different jump rope tricks. Fourth and fifth grade have created jump rope routines and will be performing them during class this next week. Please encourage your child to show you his/her skills, looking for a rhythmic jump pattern, quiet feet, little jumps and wrist turns, bodies standing up tall and jumping once the rope hits the ground (not jumping at the same time they turn the rope).
Spring break is just around the corner. Elementary aged children should be getting their heart rate up for sixty minutes a day. Please encourage your child to get up and play every day. If you are stuck inside, our brainboost website is a great resource for being active in small spaces without needing equipment: https://stampsy.com/bsd-brainboost If your family is able to head outside or has a large area to play, http://www.playworks.org/ has many great resources for ideas on how to get the whole family moving.
We will be working on striking with a short-handled implement and nutrition once we return from spring break.
We are looking for gently used velcro tennis shoes for students to borrow when they forget their own tennis shoes on their PE days. If your child has outgrown a pair of velcro tennis shoes, please consider donating them to our PE program. We would greatly appreciate it.
