Who Do You Say I Am

Reflection
Jesus to me is the perfect example of what we should strive for in life. He is the ultimate human, savior and leader. He is the one person who knows each one of us inside and out and does not judge our appearances or our flaws. He is the person who I can talk to everytime I am sad, stressed, in a bad place or struggling. He is the person in whom I can always count on to always be there for me when I am in need of a shoulder to cry on or simply just someone to hear me out. Jesus presents himself to us as a loving father, friend or even brother who will guide you through lifes ups and downs. He gave up his life for us, in order for him to be able to save us and guide us through new experiences and the cycle of life. At times when we may feel alone and as if nobody understands what we are going through we should always remeber that Jesus is always right by our side following us each step of the way. I see Jesus in nature, my family and friends, and in my teachers. He is a teacher, a human, a savior, a helping hand, a leader, and the rock that holds me up each and every day.

New Testament Passage
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.
Jn 13: 34-35
Old Testament Passage
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Nm 6:25-26
Insight from Matthew 16: 13-20
While reading the footnote for Matthew 16:18 I learned that the name by which Peter is called by in the Pauline Letters means rock and I found it interesting because Peter was the rock on which Jesus build his church. I also learned that the word Church only occurs in this gospel and in Mt 18:17. Another insight that I gained from the footnotes was that the keys to the kingdom of heaven are and image that is drawn from Is 22:15-25 where Eliakim is given "the key of the house of David" which he "opens" and "shuts" (Senior 1366)
