Girls Track
The Florence Track Meet went about as smoothly as possible with the incoming weather. Not only did we have great weather throughout the meet, but we had multiple kids run season bests, or personal bests! We had some kids try out new things and discovered immediately that they were going to be successful in those events! We had athletes step up and fill a need whenever asked of them and they did an excellent job! To highlight a few, Samantha Kleinmeyer ran a personal best in the 100 with a time of 13.34! Mary Bell ran a personal best in the 300 Hurdles by over a second with a time of 48.92! Ella Morrison ran a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:38! Cheyenne Pierce had a HUGE personal best by 38 seconds to run a 15:13 in the 3200! Ciara Crow had a personal best in the 100 with a 14.66! Our Varsity Girls 4x400 ran a season best 4:27! Our JV Girls ran great, just as they have all season long with Esmeralda Chavez, Katalina Martinez, Sabine Angel, Nerissa Hill, Sherlyn Manzano, Shelby Hutchinson, Paris Johnson, and Jasmine Bonilla taking care of business! It was a great showing and we're incredibly proud of these girls for all their hard work, effort, and fortitude! We're very much looking forward to District in two weeks!

FAFSA Update (Senior Graduation Requirement)
2024-2025 online TASFA is open!
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board announces the launch of the 2024-2025 online Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). The application can be found by visiting the TASFA landing page, housed on the THECB's main website. For questions, contact Financial Aid Services at 888-311-8881 or CONTACT US.
As always, thank you for your tireless efforts in service of our students.
State Financial Aid Priority Deadline Update
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has extended the 2024-25 state financial aid application priority deadline from March 15, 2024, to April 15, 2024, due to exigent circumstances related to federal aid development. The updated priority deadline will be immediately published on the THECB's public website. The priority deadline is not a final deadline. Students can still submit a financial aid application after the priority date.
Workaround for FAFSA Contributor(s) who do not have a SSN
The Dept of Education just released a workaround to allow students to submit their FAFSA, even if their contributor does not have an SSN. Also accessible at StudentAid.gov/noSSN
- These steps should ONLY be used when an applicant:
· must have a FAFSA submission date to meet critical state, institutional, or other scholarship organization aid deadlines; and
· has required contributors who don’t have an SSN.
- Students should follow the steps NOW, yet be sure to return to the FAFSA in early March to allow their contributors to provide consent and add their signature.
· Remember, this is ONLY a temporary workaround
The Department will resolve FAFSA submission issues for students who have a contributor without an SSN in the first half of March. At that time, students will be able to submit a fully completed FAFSA that includes contributor information.
Once you have completed your FAFSA, you will receive a “Confirmation” page with a confirmation number. Please submit either the page or a picture of the page to auranga@florenceisd.net
