Serrano Elementary
Week Eight: October 12th
A Weekly Staff Bulletin
Hello Eagles!
What a busy, exciting week we just had!
- We had our first Art Masters - cool and super engaging for the students.
- Kinder and 1st went on their first field trips and I received many many cute pictures from them - thanks!
- Walk to School Day was a huge success - we were supported by our community and many Eagles Parents as hundreds of children chose to walk on Wednesday.
- Our first Serrano STEM Lab has received great feedback. Hope you all had a great time and please check out the office bulletin for the all the fun pictures. Our next STEM Challenge will be on this Friday at 11:30 (early release). Please remember this is optional but if you would like to participate, your box will be ready this Thursday.
Here is to another great week!
Best,
Ashley

- WRITE FROM THE BEGINNING: 10/21 we have a district PD at VPE and for that each teacher should be bringing writing samples to review and reflect. Feel free to copy samples prior to sending them home and each teacher should have a variety of samples, between 6-10 different samples. START COLLECTING, 10/21 will come fast!
- PE: There is a modified PE Schedule this week due to Conference - please refer to Lauren if you are unsure of your time.
- Conferences: Conferences are this week - please let me know if you would like any support with any conference.
- MXL Log - Jane has done a GREAT job of tracking our students who attend MXL and for the reason. Please feel free to use the log as evidence in a conference, should you need it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m7NXsKWPtf0X0LDF6AOcWv5Q5MpTU2vvypQmiuT_pq0/edit?usp=sharing
- K-3 Teachers - please contact Louis for support to load iTunes onto your laptop if you do not already have it loaded on there. It is imperative that this is done this week as we are a week and a half away from iPad Arrival and need to do as much prep work as possible.
Serrano STEM Challenge Friday - Build A Tower (Keep it a secret)
This week we will stick with the similar building theme and build the tallest free-standing structure with index cards. We will see if they learned anything about working together and building a base. Students will have 15 minutes and need to be in groups of 4 or 5 again. This will be an easy set-up and easy take-down so your room will be quickly back to normal for conferences.
