ICT: Paper
Paper - Notes, Photo Annotation, and Sketches by FiftyThree is an application available on iPad that allows users to collate, store and manage large volumes of information in a variety of formats such as sketch, photo and text in a single project space, which is simple, elegant and visually pleasing, and then share and follow project with peers.
Put It On Paper
In year 11 university-bound senior secondary students select the courses they will undertake for their final two years. Physics is one of a diverse array of challenging Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) subjects on offer. Examinations are the dominant mode of assessment during these final years and revising for examinations can be a daunting and challenging prospect. Learning and practicing study skills, in particular note-taking, in order to make revision time as productive and effective as possible is an essential, transferable and lifelong craft.
With this in mind we aim to teach students how to use Paper as a note-taking tool to collate related information into an all-inclusive, compressive study resource; this resource is intended as the primary revision tool during exam preparation. In this digital age the notion of handwriting notes dictated from a whiteboard is laborious and obsolete. Instead Paper is a time-efficient, rich, multifunctional alternative that ca better cater to individual studying and learning needs.
Demonstrating the attributes of constructivism
Intentional
Individual students have different academic goals and this will be reflected in the quality of their Paper revision resource.
Cooperative
Paper has a variety of sharing functions, for example documents can be uploaded to google drive and peers can follow one another.
Active
Developing the resource will require students to locate, access and evaluate information from multiple digital sources; to collect, analyse and represent data; to model and interpret concepts and relationships; and to communicate and share science ideas, processes and information
Constructive
Lessons are typically sequenced for scaffold learning i.e. students build on prior knowledge and reflect on the quality of their learning to identify areas that need improvement.
Authentic
Learning is a lifelong endeavour. Becoming a efficient and effective study has many cross-curricular and real word applications for example taking meeting minutes, record keeping, project managing, ect...
