Leadership Message
Connect, Love, Teach…
“In this world of ours, every believer must be a spark of light, a center of love.” -Saint John XXIII
Last Friday our Saint John XXIII spent the day connecting and learning together during our PD day. The theme of our day was, Connect, Love, Teach. Today’s learning environments call all staff to be responsive and flexible; continuously adapting to the diverse needs of all children. Every child that walks through our doors is truly seen and embraced as a child of God-His masterpiece, and someone’s most precious gift. That is the easy part-seeing each child as a masterpiece and a child of God. Where the depth comes in is responding to the complexities in a learning environment where we strive every moment to ensure that the light is shone on EVERY “masterpiece” so each child can learn and grow to be all they are called to be. This is where our SJXXIII Team rises to the occasion each and every day. For, as we explored last Friday, we are built for CONNECTION (thanks to Dr. Jody Carrington for that reminder), we have the capacity to LOVE, and the skills to Teach. In fact, when we added up our collective number of years of experience and education, together we had over 350 years of experience and over 180 years of education. This Team SJXXIII answers the call every day to Connect with, Love & Teach your children! In partnership with our families and our parish community, we are grateful to be part of their village.
Blessings,
Mrs. Boehm
WE LOVE TO READ...MRS. LITTLE RECOMMENDS
It’s a silly story about a dragon named, Crispin, who wants nothing more that to breathe fire. But instead of fire, silly things like beach balls and marshmallows come out. Crispin sets out on a journey to find his fire. He discovers that he is pretty cool just the way he is.

Paint the town PINK: Pink Shirt Day Wednesday, February 27
Wednesday, February 27th is Pink Shirt Day across Canada. This day was inspired by an act of kindness in small town Nova Scotia. In that town, David Shepherd, Travis Price and their teenage friends noticed that a new student was being harassed by bullies at the school for wearing a pink shirt. So David, Travis and some of their friends went to a discount store and bought 50 pink shirts. They sent out message to schoolmates that night, and the next morning they hauled the shirts to school in a plastic bag. As they stood in the foyer handing out the shirts, the new boy walked in and felt extreme support and one became many and the bullying was silenced. After David and Travis’ act of kindness many others were also inspired and the idea for Pink shirt day began to grow. Each year, around the world, a day is set aside for everyone to wear pink and practice kindness. This year, our Fort Saskatchewan community has been challenged by the Boys and Girls Club to, “Paint the Town Pink”. In our school, our School Spirit Team is kicking off our Monday assembly next week with a presentation on how to use our Buddy Bench at school, followed by a week of kindness challenges!
In our Catholic Faith we have a Saint who has shown what it means to practice kindness and help those in need. St. Francis was an example of living a life of love and being
accepting of all of God’s creation, no matter how big or small.
Lord, Make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
-St. Francis of Assisi
