Spartan Spotlight
March 2024
Dear Fargo North High School Community,
As we transition from February to March, we find ourselves in the midst of "Tournament Time" for our Winter Sports Programs, while also preparing for the start of the Spring teams' seasons. Detailed information regarding start dates and contact details can be found in this newsletter. In addition to our athletic endeavors, Fargo North offers a wide variety of other activity programs with upcoming events that deserve recognition.
Congratulations to Billy Ward and North/South Girls Hockey State Championships. The Music department is gearing up for some exciting Spring Concerts, with the Choir scheduled to perform in the Theater on March 5th, followed by the All Northside Orchestra Concert on March 7th. These events promise to showcase the incredible talent of our students.
Our Knowledge Bowl team is set to compete in the EDC Acalympics on March 6th, demonstrating their dedication and knowledge in academic competitions. Additionally, members of our DECA program will be heading to Bismarck for the State conference and competition from March 3-5th, representing Fargo North with pride and determination.
FNH Forensics is also kicking off the Speech season, following the successful completion of the Debate season. These activities are just a glimpse of the numerous opportunities available to our students.
Monday, February 26th we witnessed the very first Track and Field practice take place on our new facility. In good old North Dakota we were quickly reminded that spring is not here to stay in February. The support provided by our Booster Club/Community has been invaluable, and we extend our gratitude to all members for their tireless efforts in assisting our students.
For those student-athletes with aspirations of competing at the college level, we encourage you to connect with your counselor to explore the process of creating an NCAA and/or NAIA eligibility center account. This crucial step can and should be initiated as early as a student's sophomore year. If you have more questions please feel free to reach out to your counselor for more information.
Further information can be found at the following links:
NCAA: https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/
NAIA: http://www.playnaia.org/
We are proud of the diverse opportunities available at Fargo North High School and encourage all students to explore and participate in these enriching activities.
Go Spartans!

INCLEMENT WEATHER
When our winter weather hits, Fargo Public Schools maintains close communication with officials of the U.S. Weather Service, local government, and neighboring school districts in order to make decisions regarding inclement weather and other emergency situations that are in the best interest of the safety of our students, staff and parents. The decision to hold classes is based on the general weather conditions which exist for the majority of Fargo students.
If school is in session, and a parent decides that a student should remain at home due to weather conditions, that decision will be respected by the school. Parents should use their own judgment in determining if the weather is suitable for their children to make the journey to school. It is always up to parents to make the final decision about whether or not to send their student to school if they believe weather conditions present a safety issue. The absence for the day would be considered an excused absence.
If school is called off, parents will be contacted via the automated phone, email and text system based on the contact information supplied to the school office(s). Parents are encouraged to update contact information with the school on a regular basis so we have up to date contact information. This can be done through PowerSchool or by calling the school office. School cancellation information will also be broadcasted via local media, and will be posted across our website and social media sites (Facebook and Twitter).
If weather or a situation develops during the day, and it is determined that an early dismissal is in the best interest of the students, parents will be contacted via the automated phone, email and text system based on the contact information supplied to the school office(s). Parents are encouraged to update contact information with the school on a regular basis so we have up to date contact information. This can be done through PowerSchool or by calling the school office.
