March Family Messenger
2024
Dear Marthasville Students and Families,
HAPPY MARCH!
A few days of nice weather tricked us! Our kids were "hot" and whipping out those Spring and Summer duds! Since Missouri weather is so unpredictable, please continue to dress our Blue Jays in layers. Crossing fingers that nicer weather is around the corner and here to stay!
I am searching for donations of the following items for summer school:
Shoeboxes (empty); Cereal boxes (empty); Tissue boxes (empty); Scraps of material/cloth (clean)
If you have any of donations, they can be sent to the office. Thank you in advance!
Kindergarten Connection was a hit! We have so many new baby Blue Jays joining us next year. We are so excited to have them join us. If you know anyone that still needs to register their future Kinder, please have them call the office and speak to Mrs. Brueggemann.
Our second annual whole school bowling field trip is May 7th. This is completely funded by the profits from Color Run (which is May 4th). Please consider joining us for an amazing event! We are hoping to be bigger and better this year. Information to register is below. We are so grateful for the consistent support from our families and community members.
March is full of so many events and activities! Refer to the calendar below for more information. Spring Break is on our heels, but we are finishing 3rd quarter strong. We hope to see you at our Title 1 Reading Under the Stars family night on March 7th. Come dressed in comfy clothes to read some books, enjoy yummy snacks, and visit the book fair.
Thank you always for the amazing support and partnership. We love your kids and will continue to create an environment that is safe and caring for them. This year is flying by and our students are really showing some FABULOUS leadership. From welcoming new peers to cleaning up our community, our kids exude Blue Jay Pride!
If you need anything, you can reach me at 636-231-2650, send a message to our Facebook page, come in for a visit, or email me at kristen.daffron@sdowmo.org. I am here for your family!

Color Run 2024- REGISTRATION COMING SOON!
Marthasville Elementary is hosting a family Color Run on Saturday, May 4, 2024. This event is open to the general public - you do not need to be a Marthasville Elementary family to participate! The Color Run will take place at the Marthasville City Park in Marthasville, MO. Check-in will start at 10:00 am and the run will begin at 10:30. Come enjoy a morning of fun! We will have music, a playground, Kona Ice, and concessions with hot dogs, chips, and bottled water available to purchase.
There are two options for race registration: the $10 Basic Package (race entry only) or $18 Shirt Package (race entry, white Color Run shirt, and a color pack). You must register by Tuesday, April 16 to guarantee a shirt. We will accept late registration but a race shirt and color pack are not guaranteed.
All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parents and guardians are welcome to participate in the Run as well! Proceeds will benefit students at Marthasville Elementary. Online registration will close on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Please contact the school office at (636)231-2650 if you would like paper registration, or have any questions about this event.
Note: For the safety of all participants, skateboards, scooters, and skates of any kind are prohibited in this event. Waiver of Liability: In consideration of my entry being accepted, I waive any and all claims for myself, my administrators, and my heirs against all officials, sponsors, and organizations connected with the Marthasville Color Run/Walk for injury or illness that may directly or indirectly result from my participation in this event. I attest that I have full knowledge of the risks involved in this event, and am physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate in this event.
Counseling with Mrs. Busekrus
We enjoy our monthly Connect Washington/Blue Jay Pride Assemblies! The kids are eager to know more about people and places in our community. The students are learning about a variety of jobs and careers. Parents, if you would like to participate in one of our assemblies for the 2024-2025 school year, please reach out to Mrs. Busekrus. We enjoy having school and home connections. Our students are excited to hear about your jobs, trades or careers!

If your child needs to ride the bus home and has not yet filled out a transportation form, it needs to be done prior to the day they need to ride. Please contact the office if you need assistance with this. Students can not ride a bus until this has been approved through the bus garage.

Our character word for March is: ATTITUDE

Handwashing Is Important
Handwashing is the first and most important step in preventing germs from spreading. Germs are everywhere- on our food, on our skin, on door handles and light switches, cell phones and more! By washing our hands frequently, especially during cold and flu season or when preparing food, we can keep germs from spreading.
But not everyone washes their hands when they should. A disturbing study found most (95%) people aren’t washing well enough to kill germs. A staggering 10% of people didn’t even wash at all after using the restroom. Since you can’t rely on other people to keep their germs to themselves, you and your family should make handwashing a habit.
Cash for Classrooms by Casey's Rewards
We’re excited to share that our school is participating in Cash for Classrooms, part of Casey’s Rewards. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you buy from Casey’s and use their rewards program you can simply turn your points into a donation to our school. Find Marthasville Elementary in the rewards section of the Casey's app to start donating today!
Any donation that a school receives from the program can be used to purchase supplies for extra-curricular activities including sports, technology, art and/or school supplies within your school. Join us in giving back to your community! Funds will be disbursed to schools twice a year via check to the school's address and will be sent in December and April. No minimum amount required.
Technology
2-6 Blue Jays need to take their device home every night to charge. Students who consistenly forget to charge at home or forget their device altogether, will have to fill out a Think Sheet for being unprepared. If your child needs a new charger from the district, pleast let the office know. Chargers purchased from Amazon or other stores that are not meant for our district issued devices will cause harm to the battery life and ability to charge fully.
Visitors and Volunteers
If you plan to help at a class party or be a guest reader, you only need to have your ID scanned through Raptor.
Library News
Hello Marthasville families!
We hope you and your Blue Jay visit the book fair next week! We are open during the school day for your child to visit during their Library time. We will also be open on Thursday from 3:30-7. We will be using eWallet again this year if you'd like to add money to your child's account and avoid sending in cash. We also will be collecting change to purchase books for our school. We hope to see you at the Book Fair!!
