A message from the principal
We're diving headfirst into the whirlwind known as "March Madness"! As a sports fan I love this time of year, with basketball tournaments packed with buzzer-beaters and bracket breakers. As a principal, I appreciate it because of the sense of urgency it brings to everything we still have to accomplish this year.
Next Friday marks the end of Trimester 2 and the start of our Spring Break. It's the perfect time to celebrate our accomplishments and recharge our batteries before we sprint toward the finish line. There's still a wealth of knowledge awaiting us before we reach June 6.
I encourage everyone to seize the opportunity during Spring Break to spend quality time with family, whether that means jetting off to a sunny destination or enjoying a game of cribbage around the kitchen table. And let's not forget the joy of reading! After wrapping up "I Love To Read" month, why not encourage your child to pick up a book just for fun?
Wishing you all a fantastic Spring Break, and let's return refreshed and ready to make the most of our third trimester!

Thank you to everyone who attended our February meeting. One of our fourth grade teachers, Dareth Herman, joined us and shared some of the learning and fun that is happening in her classroom.
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 21st. We will be discussing upcoming events (kindergarten welcome night and staff appreciation week), we will start planning for next school year, we will hear from Principal, Mark Van Voorhis, and also from some of our first grade teachers. We hope you will join us, too.

Volunteer News
Thank you to all who generously gave their time by volunteering in the month of February.
Did you know? Having a volunteer spend time making copies, laminating, cutting paper, making booklets, and organizing worksheets gives teachers time back with their family instead of staying after school into the evening prepping for their classroom. Just in February alone, volunteers helped teachers get back 170+ hours they would have otherwise spent preparing items for their classroom. Volunteers are helping our teachers with work/life balance, and it is greatly appreciated.
Can you lend a hand? Upcoming opportunities include:
General Workroom Volunteering: copying, laminating, general clerical tasks
Enrichment Programs: K Skill Builders, Math Plus, and Challenge Reading
Coming Soon: MCA Hall Monitors, Track + Field Day, Spring Field Trips

Health Office News
Tidbits from the Health Office - Hello March!
Well, we are not sure if mother nature is ok... But we do know that having an extra set of clothes and socks in your student's backpack would be a good idea as we navigate whatever weather is thrown at us these last months of the school year.
If you happen to be starting your spring cleaning, we are always so appreciative of any clothes your child has outgrown (joggers, sweatpants, shorts, t-shirts, socks, sweatshirts - they don’t wear jeans - Ha ha ha ha).
You just never know when an extra set of clothes will be needed… Milk carton mishaps, art gone wrong, muddy puddles, gaga ball, or a bathroom accident.
Parents, please also note that strep is trying to be sneaky this year. The symptoms are not what we typically see. We are seeing more headaches, stomachaches, and low grade temperatures. Sometimes not a temperature at all and most often no sore throat.
