Attendance Matters
Regular attendance at Liverpool West Public School is essential if students are to maximise their potential.
Regular attendance helps students to:
- develop a sense of belonging
- develop and maintain friendships
- be more engaged at school
- progress with their learning
- be more aware of career and life options.
Every day counts. Missing just one day a fortnight can amount to four weeks of lost learning over a year. Over their school life, this can equal one year of missed learning. The information below outlines responsibilities of parents/carers, students and schools with some very interesting figures regarding the impact of days and minutes lost.
New Gate Signs
Our ⭐NEW⭐ signs
Some of you may have already seen our new signs at our main pedestrian gate. As attendance is a focus for us here at Liverpool West Public School we are encouraging all students to be at school by 9:10am every day.
We have seen a considerable reduction in children coming late to school compared to last year - thank you for your active effort in making this possible!
On these signs you will see there is a Thank You message for getting your child to school on time (in black), however, if your child arrives after the 9:10am bell there will be a sign (in red) showing the student that they need to go to the office to get a late note before heading to their classroom.
As always, please be mindful of making appointments for your child during school time as our aim is to maximise every child’s learning time to the fullest each day. Our school hours are from 9:10am - 3:10pm everyday.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 02 9602 8062.
The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation
The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) is dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia and raises funds to develop, implement and sustain innovative projects for individuals, families and communities. We have been fortunate enough to receive some Literacy Packs for our preschool children, our Aboriginal students and our refugee students from our Transition Class.
Thank You Flag Project
Merran Hughes is currently an artist in residence for South West Health. Our school was invited to run a small thank you flag project for your local hospital (South West Health). The Stage 2 classes took part in this community art project. It was designed to thank our hospital workers for keeping us all safe throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
The flags are currently on display at Liverpool City Library in the children's section until the end of February and then it will be moved into local wards, for the enjoyment of the hospital communities.
COVID-19 - Good Hygiene
The best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 is the same way you would protect yourself from catching the flu or other respiratory illnesses. Remember there are simple steps to help stop the spread and good hygiene is in your hands. We have some pictures below to help stay safe during this time.
School Crossing
With the new school year already here, it’s timely to be reminded about safety for our children, parents/carers and School Crossing Supervisors (SCS). The links below will help support being safe at our school crossing.
