Night Watch Canteen April 14th
Wesley serves the Nightwatch Canteen on Sunday April 14th. About 60 meals were served on Monday, March 25th. This is an important ministry for the food insecure. Please sign up to help out. There is a signup sheet in the narthex of the church. Contact Mary P to volunteer or if you have questions.
Exciting Saturday mornings!
Another Forum has been scheduled!!! Plan on attending April 20th @ 10am.
When forums are not scheduled, there are Saturday morning meetings at 10am. These meetings are thought provoking and informative. They have also focused on getting Whittier Neighborhood Association going. It has been several years since the previous association disbanded and many believe it would be a good idea to start up one again. Right now, we are working on a mission statement for the group. Next will come the exciting work of looking at the needs of the area and deciding how we best can help. Please join us at 10a on Saturday mornings in Fellowship Hall. Come to share and learn about being a neighbor and improving life for everyone. You really can make a difference! Note: No meeting on Saturday 3-30.
Terry Redlin Food Pantry
The Terry Redlin Food Pantry continues to bless around 25 families each Tuesday afternoon. We had the privilege of meeting some folks from the King of Glory Church and helped them "learn the ropes" of stocking the pantry. They are excited about the opportunity to be God's hands and feet. for many Terry Redlin students and families. Wesley continues to supply the pantry with milk each week through a grant from the United Methodist Conference. King of Glory served the pantry in March and Wesley will serve in April.
***
The pantry is in need of reusable bags with handles- preferably cloth. A collection box is located in the narthex of the church.
WNO
If you would like to know more about Wesley Neighborhood Outreach (WNO) the committee meets at 6pm on Wednesday before the Admin council meeting. Next meeting is May 15th.

Microplastics in bottles water
Disposable water bottles are a concern for many because, first, they are an environmental nightmare. Second, they are incredibly over-priced. But, lets ignore both those facts for a moment and think about that refreshing cold bottle of water on a hot day.
Imagine opening a bottle of water, expecting a pure, refreshing drink, only to learn that you’re also consuming tiny particles known as microplastics. Studies recently have raised concerns about the presence of these miniscule particles in bottled water and their potential impact on health and the environment. Microplastics are plastic particles smaller than 5 millimeters.
Microplastics in blood boost heart disease risk. Microplastics are everywhere—even in plaque, the fatty deposits that can build up in the arteries and cause heart disease and strokes. Researchers in Italy have found that people with microplastics in their plaque are four and a half times more likely to be at risk of heart attack, stroke or death than those whose plaque didn’t contain microplastics.
The low cost and convenience of plastics are deceptive and mask great harm. We need to begin to reduce our use of single-use items (water bottles, soda bottles, etc.). Choosing tap water over bottled water and supporting policies aimed at reducing plastic waste can help minimize our exposure to microplastics and protect the environment.
Blessings,
Dawn Armstrong
