Montessori Minute
October 20, 2017
APL Conference for Administrators
I am going to again try to include an APL strategy or tip in the Montessori Minute. This week's tip involves Wait Time.
Remember to say the student's name LAST when asking a question! Let EVERYONE think before calling on someone. The name comes last. If you start with, "Troy, tell me the main point of this paragraph' then Troy gets anxious and everyone else is relieved and feels like they're off the hook (and maybe that they don't have to listen to the question, since the teacher's already called on Troy!)
Thanks for a great discussion at PLC on Wednesday!
Joannie is in charge of the agenda and note taking next week; however, I think most of the agenda will be working with Jill and Claudia and the state standards. I will be attending Grant's PLC next Wednesday.
Below is a link to our previous PLC agendas and a schedule of upcoming ones:

Barb Jens Visit
She told me there were only two public Montessori schools in Nebraska or Iowa--Millard and us! She was impressed with your materials, your teaching, and your students. She told me that we were "carrying the Montessori flag" very well.
She did suggest that we may have too many materials displayed in our classrooms. Do students use everything that you have out? Could some be put away for awhile and then rotated back in a month or two? Just something to think about....
Love the enthusiasm when our students receive golden tickets!
