Presented by Memorial Electives Teachers- great follow up to the "How to Register..." meetings, this night will round out your understanding of our electives curriculum.

For the 2nd year in a row, Eighth grade families have the opportunity to select a different way to experience high school. Memorial High School Health and Wellness Pathway students are prepared to engage in health science careers and promote a healthy self and community. They have the knowledge and skills to be curious and creative problem-solvers.
Through effective communication, collaboration, resilience, and cultural competence, they will be vital assets to their community and successful in their academic, career, and life goals.

"SKILLS FOR EMOTIONAL-PROBLEM SOLVING" Group- 2nd Semester
Starting second semester, this 15-week rotating group will focus on helping your child manage difficult emotional situations, cope with stress, and make better decisions by learning important social-emotional skills. The group is being facilitated by our school psychologists using a curriculum called “Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving for Adolescents (STEPS-A)”. Please contact either Deb Conway (663-6066) or Morgan Anderson (663-6053) if you feel your child could benefit from participation in the group.

Encourage your student to prepare for exams early by reviewing notes, meeting with teachers about questions, and creating study groups with friends to prepare and re-teach each other concepts. SENIORS
Schedule and do a 15 minute conference with your counselor to inform them of your plans following graduation, and any help you need.
CONTINUE WORKING ON COLLEGE APPS...
- Do not use school email for ANY matters related to life after high school. Examples: college apps, parchment account, ACT, FAFSA, scholarship applications, etc **School Email is deactivated soon after graduation.
- Work on Application Essays - this is often the hardest and most critical piece of your application! Fresh off the press: The UW System essay prompts
Request any transcripts you need at www.parchment.com.
Prepare to submit your FAFSA on and after October 1st to help pay for college costs.
- Send your ACT/SAT/Subject Test scores directly from those testing websites.
- Complete the Activity Sheet (Shared w/ you by your counselor in an email following your Junior Conference.) Share w/ the teacher whom you would like to write you a letter of recommendation and to reference for college and scholarship application essays.
- Join the UW System Texting Campaign to receive text messages that assist with the transition to your senior year. Topics include:
- Choosing a rigorous senior year schedule
- Taking the ACT/SAT
- Making the most of summer
- Visiting campuses
- Applying for admission
- And more!

Selective Service
Almost all male U.S. citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.
- It's important to know that even though he is registered, a man will not automatically be inducted into the military.
- Registration allows you eligibility for federal student loans and federal jobs/job training.

It's Time to Submit Your College Application Materials!
Send your counselor application materials that must be completed by them before your colleges' deadlines. (like Secondary School Reports, brag sheets for Recommendations, etc.).

(anyone wishing to apply for financial aid with a college or university will usually need to fill out this government form Senior Year)
