Staff Development this week
RBES~ Alignment with the LSPI
Your second RBES goal is determined either by the individual teacher or by grade level, content area (Math or Reading/ELA). The goal is a broad goal that is in direct alignment with the school's LSPI goals. Remember your goal establishes your intention to move student achievement forward based on their overall performance in that content area. Your goal is not to be so specific that you only focus on one content domain, strategy, etc. in that content area. Your implementation design plan is that place to focus on strategies to improving student achievement.
Here is an example for you.
LSPI Goal in Mathematics:
100% of students who participate in SPGs (1-3) and District Assessments (4-5) will make expected (meets) or high growth (exceeds) on the Mathematics end of year assessment. 30% of our students will show high growth (exceeds).
RBES Goal in Mathematics:
100% of students will make expected (meets) or high growth (exceeds) on the Mathematics EOY assessment. 30% of students will show high growth (exceeds).
Baseline data: BOY Mathematics Pre-Assessment
Ongoing data: 9 week Benchmarks, Big 20, Exemplars
Implementation Design Plan: this is where you are specific about instructional strategies, using assessment to drive instruction, etc.
ex. flexible, fluid guided math groups, clear learning targets, student goal setting, fact fluency practice, problem solving, constructed and extended response
You have a copy of the school's LSPI goal. You know where your strengths and weaknesses lie in the implementation design plan. Your RBES goal is a place to make that commitment to improving your teacher practices.

Resending an email from Ms. Stocks requesting updated class schedules
First let me start by saying thank you for all the time you have dedicated to parent teacher conferences this week! You have done an amazing job of making parents feel welcome and showing them how much you care about their child's well-being and education. Hat's off to you!
I am currently working on EIP FTE and need to ask a favor. After 7 weeks of school, many of you have worked out the kinks in your original classroom schedule or have added new kids to your support caseload. For these reasons, it may look a little different than it did when you submitted a copy to the front office. If you have made any changes, no matter how big or how small, can you please send me an updated schedule. I need the most updated information in order to schedule EIP services. Thank you for your help and I hope you have a wonder weekend. You deserve it!
Request from Ms. Segars- Depositing checks received
Thank you for your help.
FOCUS Program
Approved asthma research study
The researchers have selected a very few teachers (up to two or three) at nearly all of our elementary schools to invite to participate in their short survey. The researchers will email the teachers directly to request their voluntary/optional participation, and they will attach my letter of approval for their study (also attached here). The text of the researchers' email to teachers is also attached.
I understand the increased sensitivity to the proliferation of surveys, so when your teacher(s) ask you about this one, I recommend that you let them know that:
- the survey is legitimate;
- their participation should help with asthma intervention planning, if they can afford the time to contribute; and,
- if not, it's okay.
As always, thank you for your support of educational improvement and the research that informs it.
