School is in full swing, so It must be time for the Iowa Assessments!
I can't believe we just completed our fourth week of school! Students are accustomed to the daily routine, and learning in the core subjects - religion, math, language arts, science, and social studies - every day. In addition to music, PE, computers, and Spanish (our MPaCS classes), we have begun extra-curricular activities this week: band, robotics, and volleyball. Cub Scout and American Heritage Girls information went out this week with your students, so those activities will be starting up soon.
Next Monday, we will begin the Iowa Assessments in first through eighth grades. These tests are used to gauge our students' areas of strength and those that need more focus. The results will help our teachers address student learning needs. To ensure that your child performs at his or her best, please do the following:
- Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep each night.
- Provide a healthy breakfast each morning.
- Arrive to school on time each day.
- Speak encouraging words to your child before school.
- Reschedule (if possible) any appointments that will conflict with testing.
We will work to make a positive testing environment next week for your child.
Have a blessed weekend!

Volunteer Opportunities!
There are many opportunities thoughout the school year:
- Wildcat Workdays each month
- International Fair
- Fall Funfest
- Las Vegas Night
- Coaching
- Working Concessions
- Serving on Advisory Council Committees
- Christmas and spring musical costumes and set design
- Custom opportunities to work with your availability
Currently, I am looking for a couple of volunteers to set up and take down the safety barricades each morning and afternoon. Two families could earn their service hours for the entire year this way. Please call the school office at 817-451-9383 or email me at mburns@saintritaschool.net if you are interested.
We thank you for your the many ways you contribute to Saint Rita Catholic School.
