Langston's Letters
March 1 - March 5
A Note from the Principal
Dear Langston Hughes Family,
We had a wonderful time last week enjoying the creativity of the children as they celebrated the living legends and important African-American figures from the past. They researched and shared information on many whose names are not usually mentioned during African-American history month. I'm sure you will agree that the time taken to research, write about, and bring these figures to life through dress up was time well spent. I hope you and your child enjoyed learning about our history and sharing that knowledge with others. And if you want to learn even more, go to Class Dojo and enjoy the reports on African-American scientists, doctors, and inventors presented by Ms. Howard's students, or the presentations on Dr. King, Jackie Robinson, and Langston Hughes by Ms. Phillips and Ms. Roberts' 3rd graders.
While February is over, commit to continuing to explore our culture and share the richness of African-American history with your child.
Sincerely,
Denean Stephens-Spellman
