equatIO Quick Reference Card
Have you met my friend equatIO?
This is an extension for my math and science teacher friends who have been looking to find a better way to write math, especially in Google products (think Slides, Forms, Docs, etc.). However, since I know any new tool can be overwhelming, I found THIS QUICK REFERENCE CARD from TextHelp that you can save and refer to as needed.
Remember that you need to be signed into your Chrome browser with your FCS Google account (@forsythk12.org) in order to get the most out of the extension. Reach out if you have questions!
Panel FAQs
Now that almost all of you have the ClearTouch panels, I thought it would be helpful to start sharing information across schools and getting my hands dirty by playing more with Note and Snowflake.
THIS PRESENTATION has some quick and dirty FAQs for you, along with links to some more detailed info. Feel free to bookmark it (press the star at the right end of the address bar when it opens in Chrome), as I will update it if things change or need to be added.
Tools for providing feedback to students in Google Docs or Slides
- Suggesting Mode in Google Docs: Sometimes, I just want students to SEE what the correct "fix" is for the problem. Rather than highlighting each error and adding a comment, I can switch from "editing" mode to "suggesting" mode and it creates those comments for me as I rewrite what needs to be rewritten.
- CheckMark by EdTechTeam (Chrome extension): This Chrome extension allows you to create your own custom bank of comments (or use the ones they have), meaning that you don't have to write "subject/verb agreement" or "where's your evidence??" 50 million times. Instead, select the text that needs feedback and a "hover-menu" will pop up, allowing you to select which comment applies. Then if you want, you can reply to that comment with specifics about how to fix it or improve it. BONUS: It works in Slides as well!
- Read & Write by TextHelp (Chrome extension): This Chrome extension lets you give VOICE COMMENTS on student writing in Docs (not in Slides, but they say it's coming). Research shows that students are more likely to listen and react to feedback given verbally than in writing (and even more so when it is given in person). This tool can be used after using CheckMark to provide comments (up to a minute in length per comment) that give suggestions for improvement or celebrate a job well done.
